I noted with interest this SMH article from earlier in the week that said that clubs would need to have a CEO if they're to be eligible for grants under the ARL Commission.
I do hope that when this is put in place, that the commission doesn't accept our current set-up whereby our NRL club is forced to share its CEO and marketing manager and other key management positions with the Leagues club.
As I noted in a previous blog, the business of Rugby League should be set to enter a new era of professionalism and quite frankly it just doesn't fly not to have somebody qualified running the place with sole responsibility and focus on the football business. It's an issue I took to the board at the AGM only to have it arrogantly brushed off but I think I can say safely say that the results over the past year fully justify my concern that we just simply have not had enough qualified, management personnel employed at the club.
Hopefully, this finally puts pressure on the club to appoint a proper NRL-only CEO so the place can start running in a manner that befits our supporter base and proud history.

I've been saying all year that having no Football club CEO and Football manager would come back to bite us, it's shown on the field and in the front office with things like digital media and memberships.
