Turbo is a shell of himself lately, he's been playing cautiously. Against NQ he was a passenger. Now, watch him carve up on Friday night, but I, at this stage, am not too concerned with Trbojevic. I'd be more concerned on Olakau'atu, Garrick and Saab on the left of our defence.
Though that team list i reckon is spot on. Though i think Ryles will start Tuilagi, allowing Moretti to move to the bench.
May shot himself in the foot by posting that stupid live stream about tossing the jumper in the bin. If he'd kept his ghob shut, he would've gotten in. TBH he was the one who fucked it.
Why would you pick half to play 5/8 when you have best 5/8 that is Dumb
The biggest issue with many is May being left out. Even before his dummy spit and online sook he was probably going get phone call to work on few aspects of his game.
Max King has more post contact metres than May despite less hit ups and less overall metres. May has him for offloads but in Origin do we want risky offloads. King also slightly edges him in metres per run
King is also probably better in defence. They have a similar tackle efficiency but King won't give up on the play.
As eels fans we are aware of players other teams think are ok but we see them slow to get back in the line, not being in position or giving up on the play. May has these attributes so despite big minutes inflating his stats there are deficiencies.
I think for a short period he would be fine in Origin as those deficiencies wouldn't be as much an issue and if chasing points offloads could help, but if it is a hard defensive slog King is better choice all day.
The best thing about this is that Alexander is no longer part of the set up.
I don't think May s style suits origin. Happy for him not to be thete. Don't know why big o wasn't picked. Hudson young hasn't done much at origin. I prefer Api over Robson.
I was concerned about the experience of our props handling the first 20 minutes when it was reported Hasse would likely miss the game due to a quad injury...but apparently he is likely to play so we should be OK. I'd start King with Hasse and have Barnett and Lenui coming off the bench.
I don't like Connor Watson being there at all. Yes, he was ok last year. But he's barely first grade material. Knights punted him for christ sake. I'd put Api at 14.
I'd also sub Young for Haumole. Hudson has been better than Haumole this year, no question. But Haumole is a truly gifted athlete, bit like SBW. Have to have him there.
