Moving Forward (literally)

It was clear toeven Stevie wander we lacked forward lastnight, and with Ryles clering the decks & with the possability of JR retiringat the end of 25 or 26

WE need Forward

we need to be aggresive big forwards

who do we get ? who do we target ?

I dont think Guymer is a 2nd rower (Im not even sure he is a footballer)

Im starting to realy like Kautoga and with more football in him the better he will get

Williams i dont think is a starter

Re-sign Walker for 2 more years past his current deal

    • I totally agree with this. When he came off our go forward went backwards.  He couldn't come back on because Simmo came off.

    • He picks up the tempo of our game. When he goes off everything slows down.

    • Onething I will say about Moretti is would he have the same impact against starting fowards I don't know.

But a big reason he's making this impact is because a lot of starch has gone out of the game so his energy and enthusiasm comes to the fore when he comes on it's much like Tuivaiti also they make there impacts because of the mentioned.

The maturation of these 2 will happen when they have to step foward and be starting fowards and carry the load. Are they ready to do this yet I'm not sure but it's why you still need a Paulo there to show these kids the way.

  • We do not have starting quality forwards thats the truth.

    • Guymer is a middle and not edge. He, Kautoga & Samrani are still learning how to be a FG footballer week in week out as well. While they have potential they are not your ideal first choice options at this stage of their career.
    • Hopgood is half the player he used to be. I genuienly wonder if he will turn it around.
    • Williams is probably your ideal first change forward off the bench.
    • Paulo is a bench forward hence why his second stints are much better than his first stints
    • Could Moretti and Tuivita develop into starting forwards by next year? Do not want to rush Tuivita but he has great potential for his size.
    • Exactly right EA, yet we had people creaming their dacks over our smaller, more mobile forward pack during the orf-season. The simple fact is, we need more size, speed and aggression through the middle. Until we get that, we'll be close to the bottom of the heap, regardless of the quality of our backline.

      • Yeah that was before rcg, ofa, lane and matterson were no longer options,  we were going to have some big bodies mixed in with some smaller more mobile forwards like moretti, Williams, hopgood and guymer. Nobody would have been excited about only having one genuine front rower available in paulo, a bit of context helps tell the whole story.

        • Yep thats the thing. I dont think anyone expected some players to be so much on the outer and JR blood so many younger players. Its why we are suffering this short term pain. Hopefully its better for the long run.

    • You're right, continually, EA Moretti improves every week and it would be even more so if he had a decent pack to support him. And the possibility of Tui becoming his starting partner is something to relish. Just our luck to have him out for 10 weeks.  With the chance to farewell the likes of Matto, Carty and a few others shortly we should be able to create a wish list for forward talent and be ready to pounce.  Till then try and blood Latu in the 17.

      • Yea I like Samrani as a 17 rather than a starting backrower. Tuilagi will probably be selected this week with Guymer back on the bench or cup. Latu needs a couple more games in Cup before being a chance of NRL selection I would think.

  • Kautoga is getting better but still a fair way off.

top targets should be white, Fifita, haas, halisima, pahulu just to name a few
