NEWS: Eels winger Bailey Simonsson has apparently gone down with a fractured foot last night, which would put him out for Upto 10 weeks potentially. Such disappointing news, was finding his feet again…
He will have scans today to confirm.

  • Is it just me or does it seem as a team we tend to sustain more foot/ankle injuries than most teams at the moment? Not sure if it is just because of supporter bias or not, but is it some part of their training that is putting more strain and increasing the likelihood of injury?

Last year I would have considered it an age thing, but this year, I dont know

    • I'm wondering if the playing surface has anything to do with it, they're all occurring at Commbank.

      • Or the training surfaces?

Damage could be done during sessions then during the games it just goes over the edge from aggrivated to full-blown injury

It'd be something an exercise physiologist would be able to narrow down

        • Good point, that's probably the more likely scenario. TBH I have no idea it just seems very specific to us and is more than a coincidence.

Watching games at Commbank it's like the grass isn't even secured to the soil like the roots haven't penetrated. The moment someone changes direction or whatever the grass is disturbed.

          • I agree the Commbank surface gets churned up quite a bit and with Penriff calling it home now the surface isn't coping and will only get worse.  But Penriff players aren't getting the same foot injuries as Parra players.  I think it's just coincidence, for example Moses' injury was from being stepped on.  If we extrapolate this somewhat and look at the Roosters stadium their surface is churned up just as bad as Commbank and they don't seem to be getting the same foot injuries as Parra.

  • Very dissapointing if true as Bailey was one of our best every time he has been on the field this season. Hopefully it's not too bad and he can get back and play some consitent footy as the side is better when he is playing. I would go as far as to say he is our best option at wing at the moment outisde of Lomax.

  • Shithouse when it rains it pours with this team.

Are you there Dom Young earth calling Dom Young come in Dom Young.

    • Signed to knights

  • I asked this question before but are our players all wearing the same brand foot?, we seem to have an unusually high number of foot fractures/Injuries.

    • potentially HKF, there seems to be too many to be just coincidence, especially because it is across the whole squad, not just certain positions. It could be anything - increased training to get fitness up, new training methods the guys aren't used to. We have to remember that this year we are trying to play with more lateral movement as opposed to the decade of bash the front door down
