Coryn, fair, that was probably the only bombed try, but we had what, 7/8 errors inside the Fins half in attack?
Not only is that blowing serious point scoring opportunities, it relieved the Fins of a lot of defensive work (fatigue) & pressure - which also leads to points.
Agree we don't have the squad to implement what Ryles is trying to bring, but, wouldn't you prefer Ryles drill this is now & the recruitment work 24/7 to bring frist grade talent & experience to the club? As opposed to alter our style to suit players that likely shouldn't be there?
Respectfully disagree with you on the 'followers to the party', feel the Eels are actually bringing a fresh approach in some of their attack, especially from within their own half, but again, it's being let down by errors (roster).
Premierships can't even be in the converstion right now, agree. But, elite teams start with the foundations & defence, and might be hopeful thinking, but can see that is what Ryles is using as a springboard to his tenure.
Remember it took BA a few years to get a squad together that he became successful with, Ryles has had 10 games & right now this team is likely what, 3million under the cap?
Not disagreeing with you that parts of the roster are at odds with the strategy, but can't be too critical of Ryles until we see what he does with a roster of his choosing.
Sidenote - if we don't get Galvin, would love to see the Eels chase Katoa as Moses' heir, get him back home to Sydney. Kotoa might end up a better player than Moses & Cleary yet.

last night we struggled for go forward but still made 7 line breaks, that's incredible.
Our attacking shape is impressive we just aren't laying a platform and defensively we are unable to dominate the tackle.
The systems Ryles and co are implementing are effective we simply don't have the forwards to be able to execute consistently.
If we had our forward pack from our GF year in 22 last night our backs would have put on 50 points.
I see a football team that's proving their well coached but undermanned.
The recruitment team need to deliver , there's plenty of cap space to target the players to fit the style we want to play.
Theres no excuses we can't turn this around quickly .
Dont expect us to get many wins this year though , we're getting dominated through the ruck , that won't change without going to market.
Addo-Carr finished the match at least 3 tries short if only he got some quiality ball
Need another penetrating prop. Williams just doesn't bend the line. Defence was soft as could be. Phins consistently made ground and were in position to kick and keep us in the corner. All of this experience will help but still a mile off being competitive week in week out.
On loosers can anybody shed some light on Wendell, what's his poison
