Quite clearly the NRL have lost the plot on this. Parramatta's no try should have been awarded but some other issues have arisen lately with teams claiming an advantage. Take a look at the Payne Haas try. He took the ball standing on the right of the player who passed him the ball. He then went left back around this player and ran through the cap created by the players who where making the tackle on the player who passed him the ball. We used to call this a shepherd. It seems now that this is legal? I have no problem if Hass stays on the right hand side. The same when a dummy half runs to the left and then changes his mind and runs to the right impeading the defending marker by using the person who played the ball. This also used to be pulled up but now is not called. Have a look at the Haas try in the highlights. It seemed to easy at the time and it was only later that I realized why. Have the rules changed or only changed for Parramatta?

Yep the rules are only different for Parra. The no try we got when Reynolds got knocked over being another example. The back view on that one actually showed Reynolds stepping to the left to be in line with Maka, and even though Maka makes contact on the inside shoulder, it still gets denied. How many times have you heard the bunker say "the defender initiated the contact so it's play on"? I'm at a complete loss to explain that one.
I have never heard it when it is against Parramatta.
It is actually worse if you are Parramatta. Same incident last year against Penrith and rather than obstruction being called Parramatta is penalised for takling the man without the ball????
Problem is rules are black and white.
This doesn’t allow for common sense when judging a try. The fact of the matter is that I believe there isn’t as many mistakes in the game now then 20 years ago. The major problem is everyone wants a perfect game and its not going to happen as we have human error involved. I like the way Rugby Union handles there decisions with the referee and lines mans talking out on the field.
They are only black and white for the eels. If an eel it is always an obstruction even if in this the player moved left to make the tackle in the opposite direction to the ball.
I'm pretty certain Waqa Blake drops the ball while going in untouched anyway.
I was worried at first but I think he grounded it.
Let's also not forget the blatant knock on not called on the Broncos Winger when Parramata where on top. It happened just a few minutes before the obstruction and right in front of the linesman.
