Well done Jason Ryles.

We are getting better in a short amount of time, with a big roster turnover, a team full of youngsters and a massive amount of salary cap space available in 2026. Personally, I couldn't ask for more in his first season.

*Side note, the game now due to the rule changes and officiating is so hard to follow and want to watch. It's now beyond a joke. I don't watch any other games these days except for the eels. The Simmonson penalty says it all and the reason why.

Have a good weekend ✌️

      • That's a shame. He looks to be pretty good.

  • Samrani needs some fitness but man to make 15 tackles not a single miss and to be peppered on an edge when you have only played 2 games on the edge in Cup in your 3rd NRL game. Samrani could be the back-rower we are looking for. Again needs some strength and a full pre-season but keep him on the bench for the rest of the year and grow him into that spot for 2026.

But yes Ryles is starting to show his style, dumb penalties but at same time we are a young team, one of the youngest in the comp. Iongi had a bad drop but will improve in time.

  • They sorley missed lomax in that game. There were at least 4or 5 kicks put up that they just strolled down the field for and didn't challenge. Easy catch for the sharks back 3.

  • Fuck we copped some shit calls. We've improved, but the gap between our best and worst across 80 minutes is still too big.

  • Absolutely Bert, well said.

A lot of respect for JR, he's made some really brave calls for a first year coach & it seems to be having an immediate impact on attitude.

    • I really really like him

I like his energy , I like his communication , I like his decisiveness ,

out of anyone since smithy ( and I was way too young to analyse). He has some good juju and seems to be reflective and calm about the journey

  • Ryles has taken this side down to its foundations to rebuild. If / when we can get some NRL quality around our edges and middles we'll be a different proposition. I'm just cranky that the cupboards were allowed to get so bare. NRL quality and experience is the difference between icing half a chance or spilling it. It truly is the difference between winning and losing. The Fox is proof of that.
We have some cap to spend, I hope we buy what we need not just band aid solutions. Because I feel if we can plug the right players into this system we'll be a very formidable side.
For now we have to be patient and enjoy the wins when we can. This side fights hard but we're fighting up a few weight classes currently.

    • BA and more so O'Neil have a lot to answer to.  BA has been banished so he has been dealt with,  O'Neil should be well and truly on the hot seat.

Fans need to be realistic about where we are at the moment,  if you compared every roster player for player we would have the worst roster overall,  we still have a couple of quality players but are lacking in key areas particularly the forward pack. I think we are going to have to overachieve this year to avoid the spoon or hope a better team has issues that lead to them underperfoming.

      • Agreed we don't have the cattle and the people who make these decisions allowed that to happen. However, the players that we do have, it seems that Ryles has now made his mind up about them too. He seems determined to clean house as quickly as he can which is a positive but it leaves us super skinny. We really need to be adding some NRL quality and experience asap. Easier said than done.

    • NRL quality anywhere in the team take ya pick.
