I've seen enough over the weekend to see that religious topics aren't going to benefit this site in any way. I'm getting to the point that whenever there is an terror incident my first thoughts aren't for the victims, it's thinking about who is going to end up calling who what on here. There is enough division and hatred in the world right now, that I don't want this site to contribute to it, particularly when one of my primary objectives for this site when it was set up was for it to be a place where all Eels fans can come to discuss the club. Right now, I feel any blogs based on religion end up causing unnecessary negativity on the site, so they are banned for the rest of the football season.
Appreciate your co-operation.

good call, not before time
brad: How about it be a requirement that you need to be a paid up member of the Eels Club to blog or reply on this site?
The moderators do their best to police the site and issue warnings and bans where needed but it is a labour intensive process and it's easier and more manageable to ban an entire topic than it is to scroll through every discussion and send messages and ban members.
I also had the displeasure of reading some of the posts in The Cupboard last night, and I've decided to remove chat from the site for at least 24 hours. If people are taking advantage of the fact that I can't be around here much at the moment, I will continue to reduce the scope of the site until it becomes managable.
Thanks Phil, why don't you just enforce the code of conduct? so others are not stopped from sharing their view? Whether its religion, a topic on the coach, players etc. some people will get personal etc. so why not ban them for a month? or more. I do not see the issue in that.
