Watching last night, I don't believe Dylan is anywhere the level he was attaining.

Whether it is the ACL tear (definitely lost pace) but his body language showed to me in pre and post game interviews he doesn't want to go anywhere. I think he sees Parra is home and whilst no one can complain for him taking the 13m, I wonder if he will ever be happy in the Knights wilderness.

I have always been a DB fan, but I also think we burn't him out in the last 2 seasons and confused his role in the process.

I now see DB as a 600pa player and if he maintained his original potential say 800k. i.e my implication is he has lost 25% as a player.

WE have most probably won the jackpot as I think we have seen the best of him whereas I question his future now. I would be surprised if he retains his NZ Test status when you look at the Warriors and their young half.

Watching his current game he is missing tackles, whereas previously he hardly missed a thing. He has also lost confidence in the line, doesn't know or understand his role by the rules that made him recognised in the first place.

We are very lucky and whilst it has been said repeatedly, I cannot believe how dumb the Knights are as he will never be the play maker they have signed for. O'Sullivan has a lot to answer for!

              • Likewise.

And that's the goal for the Eels, right? We have to create that environment, trust & success where players will stay for less because they are happy & believe that's the best place for their footy.

Hughes obviously has a good support network around him? Any other insights from that chat?

                • Munster also stayed for less. I seem to remember saying that a strong indicator of good culture is a place where players are willing to stay for less (financially speaking).

                  • Or... they have very good TPAs , as they would in a one horse town. No denying they have a good set up , but is it good enough for players to leave a million dollars on the table for their very last contracts ?  Nah ... doubt it.  Even Cam Smith and co needed to be topped up off the books for them to stay there.

                • Exactly right NoS environment and giving players after football opportunities and TPAs if they aren't one in the same.

No not really just that he said he's put roots down there and his mother lives on the GC his oldman lives here in Wgtn and Perth was a bit far. He's just content with his life and football.Potentially he's leaving at least 3-400 k a season on the table by staying over a 4 or 5 yr period well you can do the maths.

              • How does he know he's leaving money on the table ?  He's not off contract until 2027.

                • His agents been contacted quietly and Perth want him like really want him to get him out of Melbourne but from what I heard from his oldman he's going no where.

  • He doesn't want to leave, the money was just too much.

I agree that he has lost some pace and just overall he seems to have lost some of his "X-factor". He has been burned out and been playing on a messy left edge where he's been putting out fires all over and having to lead the attack with Moses mostly injured.

It was a stupid deal by the Knights on a player they do need really.

    We will move on.

  • If we get Glavin thats the final jackpot.

You see Moses on 100% footy with his sly smile when asked about him.

    • Don't know what that means?

PS I think we can do better than Galvin if we have to pay 1m. Happty to see him become a million dollar player, but he is no further advanced than some ofhis peers at 3/4 the price.

      • I don't believe it but I agree with Flippa.  Galvin has a very long way to go before he's a million dollar player. Why get rid of one bloke that never forfilled his hype for another we have to wait for him to achieve his?

"Everyone is saying Sandon Smith, he contracted til 2026 and unlike Galvin I am not sure Roosters let him go, particularly to Ryles who they had a falling out with, Politis is petty.
I have said that we can get player early out of deals, Smith is…"

"What do you mean by well though? As in the player and club have left on bad terms? Cause I didn't really see that with players who have left, they just took more money.
Look at 2022, Mahoney and Papali'i both said they were leaving with a year to…"

Last game of the year Dyl got the partial tear if it had been a full ACL and out for 9 months id wager he taked up his option for security reasons.
Now hes gone for money/Security hopefully we land a Galvin or Sandon…"
