Watching last night, I don't believe Dylan is anywhere the level he was attaining.

Whether it is the ACL tear (definitely lost pace) but his body language showed to me in pre and post game interviews he doesn't want to go anywhere. I think he sees Parra is home and whilst no one can complain for him taking the 13m, I wonder if he will ever be happy in the Knights wilderness.

I have always been a DB fan, but I also think we burn't him out in the last 2 seasons and confused his role in the process.

I now see DB as a 600pa player and if he maintained his original potential say 800k. i.e my implication is he has lost 25% as a player.

WE have most probably won the jackpot as I think we have seen the best of him whereas I question his future now. I would be surprised if he retains his NZ Test status when you look at the Warriors and their young half.

Watching his current game he is missing tackles, whereas previously he hardly missed a thing. He has also lost confidence in the line, doesn't know or understand his role by the rules that made him recognised in the first place.

We are very lucky and whilst it has been said repeatedly, I cannot believe how dumb the Knights are as he will never be the play maker they have signed for. O'Sullivan has a lot to answer for!

  • Im for 1 glad he is going i wish he was gone all ready he is a waste of money he not worth no more then $35,000 he done nothing in last 3 years

    • Arnold we all love you for your deep thinking but really $35k.....maybe you should be a selector?

In saying that I am not sure what you would be good at selecting. Do you read menu's?

      • Thanks Poppa im just letting you know im no fan of Dylan

Come on what has he done for us to think Newcastle has to pay $13 Million to get him off us

I was at game last night i through he show Knight he is worth that much but he didn't

Newcastle fans who were  left booo at Knight after the game or boo at Dylan show he not worth $13M

        • "Come on what has he done for us to think Newcastle has to pay $13 Million to get him off us"  I knew you weren't a fan when you wouldn't come off the  35k and increase it to 50

Thats too logical for me Arnie, I just wish I had thought of that! What did you select off the menu by the way?

  • When Brown was asked by Shaun Johnson in his post game interview how has he coped with all the public scrutiny since the beginning of the year. One of the reasons he gave was that Ryles was ok with him leaving!!! Perfect in the manner in which we handled it. Ricky Stuart said the same of Jamal Fogarty, if he gets a good deal he should take it. I think we are learning how to deal with player contracts. The knights have huge problems ahead, like catastrophic.

    • I think we did that in past. Marata Niukore we were especially like that, he had reasons for family and got $625k a year. Other times players got big money and we simply said we cannot match it.

But i see what you mean in how it was handled it makes the process for the year easier on the team. But at the same time i wonder if Ryles didn't want Brown anyway? Who knows. Doubt it but never know.

      • He was an isolated case which we had no control over, for the most part we haven't handled the player contract aspect of the business well during BA's tenure. Ryles has had to get rid of a fair bit of dead wood in a short time and there's still more to be done.

        • What do you mean by well though? As in the player and club have left on bad terms? Cause I didn't really see that with players who have left, they just took more money.

Look at 2022, Mahoney and Papali'i both said they were leaving with a year to go, both of them played the whole season. Is that an example of handling it badly? We basically said to those two we cannot match what you are getting so we understand.

You say Niukore was isolated, out of our control, Brown's was out of our control too in terms of what he was offered. Yes we let options be in there but still who would've thought Newcastle offered what they did.

          • You mentioned to me some time ago that we panicked and overpaid matterson. The player options given to numerous players. The length of contract and salary offered to Gutherson and junior was excessive in my view. Both players past their peak and in a state of decline.

It's not all doom and gloom, this is a new era and we've changed our ways. There's been heaps of good deals done of late and more ahead by the looks.
