Refs against us making us tire in games and not being " influenced to help us"
no benefactors or TPAs in cooeee
we don't even have one friend in commentary on ANY platform ( and don't even consider Hindy - he's traded on us being a joke for his own media identity - loved him as a player but has he ever had a spray ???)
andy Raymond is the last major eels fan/ player I think apart from Sterlo
until we are in the " script" it's a sad landscape even when we have improved 110 percent with ryles
we are so up against it
pisses me off no end 🤬😞

I get why your pissed off but it's the situation we are currently in. Our next 2 games are titans dragons + 2 byes. Chance to rack up 8 points and we can build off that
Why was it in 2022 that we didn't have everyone on our side, most people still wanted Penrith to win.
Because Penrith had a much better story - building a dynasty with a team of Penrith juniors that were simply elite.
Penrith did that themselves. They made the deal with Gus, who made the deal with Packer, who built a fortress of juniors targeting intake areas that were grown over many years. Then Penrith made the smart and hard move to sack Gus because he'd served his purpose.
Their story was amazing. And ours was basically "Brad Arthur created a siege mentality and built a group of players who would bust themselves for him". It wasn't a Parra story, it was a BA story. So the public didn't really buy into it.
Again, totally on us.
It makes no sense to me why fans that believe the game is rigged against the Eels continue to watch and become so invested in the game! When you think logically, the Eels having a completion rate of only 71% has nothing to do with the NRL, the referee nor the media. However, the 71% completion rate had plenty to do with the overall result of the game.
Yep I get where you are coming from but if you've ever played the game you'd understand how much a Ref can have an influence on the game. We did a lot of defending on the back of repetitive set restarts which killed our attack. Dogs were grabbing at the leg and slowing the play all game and nothing. Helps when you get a few calls going your way
I haven't played and I even understand how gassing a team ( unfairly - we all agreed we saw forward passes )with several six agains and getting them to defend can tip the balance particularly if they are against a higher team
isn't that just fucking logic
I have played the game, at junior representative level. Unfortunately, serious injury ended my playing days. I then moved into junior coaching and went as far as being involved with the coaching staff of a Toyota cup under 20's side. I also haave several friends who played at NRL level plus I personally know a former NRL referee and a touch judge. Obviously most of the players I know have a whinge about a decision that went against them. Not once have I heard any of them say that they believe the NRL or the referees are against the clubs they were playing for. I have said in the past and I will say it again, if the NRL is rigged in anyway they would much rather clubs such as the Eels and Tigers to be closer to the top of the ladder than the bottom. I completely understand that referees are human and they probably have their preferred sides as well as sides they dislike more than others. They would also have players they like more than others and I would think that some 50 50 rulings could be influenced by this. What I totally disagree with is that the NRL has any influence on the results of games via refereeing bias. Sure, the Eels will get bad decisions go against them and it might cost them a game here and there, but they will also receive some poor calls in their favour throughout the season. The problem is, everyone will remember when a discussion goes against them yet they forget about the ones that go in there favour.
I have also spent many years working as a bookmaker on Sydney races and greyhounds. Over the years I have known plenty of huge punters who bet 6 figure amounts on NRL games. I have known of big punters trying to get information from players. Some have also tried to get players to fix games. Not once have I heard anything about these punters trying to get in with a referee or attempting to get a referee to assist a team they are betting on. These big punters are clever and I can guarantee they wouldn't invest one dollar on anything that they thought was fixed unless they had the information and they trusted there sorce.
I agree. Week in and week out, the same script, same results. I don't watch anymore. We have wasted way too much emotion in this club. We are a lost cause in the NRL. Unless we have someone like Nick Politics or Gus, you can be sure we will remain another stats in the NRL ladder.
Why don't we go get a Politis or a Gus then? Who's stopping us?
Because a) if we did, we'd fail
and b) if my some miracle they pulled the rabbit out of the hat and did, it would expose too many dolts in the org that are dug in like ticks
