Hopgood has lost all confidence. He is more worried about making a mistake than taking the ball up. What has happened to his off loads??? He needs time in lower grades to get his confidence back.
Reed and Ryley are both workhorse type players. Usually the best option when carrying an extra dummy-half on the bench is for the bench dummy-half to be more explosive in attack. Someone you can put on after 30 odd minutes when your opposition is getting tired.

I agree that Papalii on the bench isn't the right call, I'd have Hopgood give Ryley a rest mid 2nd half and work your bench forward rotation around that. You need some flexibility from a bench hooker, not two established hookers.
Because he is not a good player or cause he left? I do agree i am not a fan of a specialist Hooker on the bench but Mahoney is a good Hooker, players leave but they can come back too.

Fair enough, though a good player is a good player. If Mahoney makes our team better we should sign him. I understand the hatred of him going to a rival, it hurt me too as he was my favourite player. But i tell you what if he wanted to come back, i would happily take him as i want to win.
But i can also understand you feeling that way though, please do not take it as me saying you are not justified in it. Though i did say in another comment if Nathan Cleary did that to us and wanted to come back, would you say no?
