Hard to feel sorry for the bloke when he goes on national tv a few weeks ago denies any interest in a player then signs him a few short weeks later. Media and fans are absolutely crushing his credibility and it's just a bad look for the game when a player takes 500k less to join the club that Gus is the head of. Pressure will firmly be on the bulldogs this season as anything less then a title will lead to a backlash

Totally easily done! In this one I reckon it's harsh to blame JR or our club.
The kid confidently knocked back the diff of millions of dollars from wests to 800k as offered by us and less with dogs haha ... ummmm totally unlikely call bs on that no matter how much Gould pushes his narrative .
its all bs to think this all just happened with dogs overnight this would've been sorted a long time back.
Maybe we should be digging around on other mega wealthy hotel groups and see if any of the owners are Parra supporters that would take on sponsorship and the thought of beating laundy eg IRIS capital or such
not sure how long our ( very wise 😬) James Hardie sponsorship is 🤔
The problem isn't that he got knocked back persay but once they knew that DB ship had sailed they needed to be on the front foot and while they got close they still come up short.
Does this sound familiar Macy the coaching search the y felt they had to come out in public and embarrass themselves in why they missed out on Bennett then offered a reported 4 yr 2.5 mill per year contract to Bellamy which again came up short and then settled on JR as the fall back.
Im not even going to go into losing Sanders DB and Talagi in 12 months can you see there's a common denominator of fail in all amongst this and a settle type mentality in being it's ok when in all essence it isn't.You see Issac Moses dictating terms to Gus like he did to the Tigers and played us to get the best for his client.
This is common place at Parra and have they accepted this as the norm because I can assure you at the clubs at the top of the comp it would never be acceptable and never happen.
I think honestly they are just very slow moving and too scared to take swings ? Waiting to long to make moves and other clubs beat them to the punch.
It would seem that he was always headed there at the end of his Tiger's deal.
Too right Chief!
In this I'd say we were never a real chance just used us to make it easier on gooould.
We're at home waiting for the phone to ring, whilst our prospect is being wined and dined and promised the world. "Why can't I find anyone to love me?"
Lol, Mutts perfect analogy!
Look at the Dogs and their sponsorship with Laundy. They went through their membership books, probably sorted it by "Net Worth" and then went after those at the top of the list. Laundy Hotels is perfect - it's family owned, wealthy as sin, and directed from the top down so the main man can basically pull the strings and do what he wants. And since it's all declared through a sponsorship the lines get pretty darn blurred.
This is smart. This is what I expect our CEO and GM of Football to be doing.
And who did we land? James Hardie, one of the most reviled companies in the world, the one we used to use (low effort) and about the furthest thing you can get from a family owned company so there's going to be nothing they do other than pay their sponsorship fee and get their name on the jersey.
It's such a shame to see us getting so thoroughly outperformed in this one area of our club and there appears to be no consequences for those at the helm.
I read yesterday Mutts that Reynolds wants to stay in Brisbane and the money isn't a point of discussion, he wants to stay because his family are now settled there and Brisbane have told him a job post football is a possibility . He virtually said he'd play for free to stay .
Now my understanding is , that its a salary cap no no to be offering jobs post football as an incentive unless it's built into the offer. Yet not a single questions asked about it. If it was in his offer all kosher then he wouldn't be saying it's a " possibility ". So they'll likley get him cheap as chips and then give him a super high paying waterboy job for a few years to make up for it.
I wish someone would privatise our club or at minimum bring in someone like Politis to run it like he owns it . Truth is , we've never been as successful as we were with Fitzy running it like his own personal empire . No one was game enough to talk out of school about any dodgy dealings we did. It a shame he was determined to burn it to the ground if he couldn't have it anymore.
We need another Fitzy .
I'm here son.
SOS , Fitzy .
