Completing 35 out of 37 sets will win most games. There's no sting or aggression in our defence and that's one of the big reasons they didn't make mistakes. We need some big powerful forwards asap. Enter Trey Mooney
Many in our current roster does not have enough experience and stamina in playing FG games. Our so called 'veteran' forwards are no better than our rookies. Hopefully MON will have a sudden miracle and recruit the right players. We, the fans, are in for many heartaches this year. Maybe next year things will change.
PS: Maybe we can punt Hopgood since we now have Dylan Walker as 13. Hopgood again had his usual error and penalty tonight. He is a changed player for the worse after his origin injury.
For some time now there has been significant talk about deficiencies in our forwards - agree but over the last 2 rounds i can see the importance of quality centres and we are struggling big time in that regard. Neither Russell or Penisini have speed, evasive running skills, they run hard at the defender not the gap and certainly lack the vision to link up to play 2nd hand phase off a Gidley flick or some imaginative pass (like you see edwards do regularly at Penrith with To'o). To compound this problem they are both passive in the tackle taking an eternity to get up and play it quickly for some flow on play (Russell is a pussey in this area - surely to god he can watch simmonson to see what a bit of urgency brings to the game) . Definitely need another fast centre to match Lomax as i would have Penisini on the wing with jac and lomax in the centres and Russell in Reserves
Fair enough NOS, inexperience is really showing and Ryles has to manage that -:he will have to take responsibility BUT the positives is he is backing himself - I believe the short term pain will be worth it especially in the long run, theres too much dead wood and moving on players like Matto,Lane, Carty , Gutho & RCG is right call, all are way past thier prime - arguing this point doesn't have any sense, our cap is in great shape and Ryles really needs to beef up this squad with more FG experience.
Absolutely & good points as always, i definitely wasn't attacking Ryles but it did come across that way, sorry.
I just meant on the field, wasn't good enough.
Ryles has brought what we asked for. Attack & especially the defence has improved from the last few seasons already along with mentality & attitude, and it's nice to finally see our game plan adapt with the style of the actual game instead of sticking to a pre-game strategy regardless of the scoreline?
Bup mentioned Ryles has brought 'innovation' & 100% agree with that.
Mentioned during the game that I felt it was on the players to find a way to win ugly last night, and instead they found multiple ways to lose.
Just frustrated with that one, Mick. That was there to win & the players, coaches, fans & club needed it.
That loss falls 100% on the players & let's hope it's a valuable lesson.

I feel the only try that was really blown was the Iongi drop with an open tryline that was a real clanger and which probably turned out to be the difference in the end.The other 3 opportunities that were mentioned and missed other things had to happen for there to be any certainty of us scoring.
The thing that bothers me the most is the copy cat style JR wants to implement with lesser talent.We.aren't a side good enough to combat styles yet and how he's chosen to play we are followers and late to the party. What I feel is going to happen by doing so is we are always going to come up short because we just won't have a squad good enough to win it all down the track.
I don't see this side ending a premiership drought anytime soon I do know that and what's really worrying and if it were a boxing fight our best player Moses lost on points to there young 7 Katoa tonight also.

"LB ill still think we come last
We played like shit bomb try on the try line
Drop balls when we had them beat
Drop balls from kicks
Kick the ball straight to fullback every time on the full
Passing the ball forward when we had the over lap "

Agree totally.
Plus no forward made over 100 metres I believe, not counting Samrani.
We lost our mojo when Bailey went off injured and the last ring of interchanges came on.
Guymer, Hopgood and Williams did not add much tonight.

WE DESERVE THE SPOON.
SUCH A POOR TEAM..
Can’t take any positives from that one.
