I think the board has assured BA he will see out his current contract, end of 2026. Last night Parra played a different style and game plan then they normally play.
If they sign Blaize T and Lomax coming, sort out the 9 and maybe Richard Penisini comes back pushing for a wing spot. Starts to look good for BA in 2026.
Eels were the better team last night over the full 80 minutes. Our forwards won the battle. Can Brad keep this team up.
Yep they need to fast track MA for the 9 jersey. He is honesty ready for this stage of his development. He has been solid at cup. Defensively solid with his line speed and tackles. Shown glimpses off great attack. Lussick has been horrible since the first 2 games of the year and Hands must not be rated at all
MA is a different type of Hooker we have used in past. He takes risks, maybe too many at times, but you need that at Dummy Half from time to time. But it is ironic, BA rushed Jake into FG before he was ready. Now the battle scares have made him conservative on bringing in Matt when he looks ready. Like last night, Hands got 17 minutes, MA could have gotten that 17 mins and same thing would happen. One could argue if the game is close he might not want MA there, but if that was the case Hands wouldn't get on either. Only thing i can see as an argument is if Lussick went down in first set, you do not want MA playing full 80 in his first match at 19 against Brisbane pack. Though, saying that MA will debut on the bench at some point and him playing a full match due to injury is always a possibility.
I think BA would be quite surprised with the reception to Matt, i have heard way more praise than negativity around young Matt and that is good. A great cheap option for us to build the rest of the team.
I heard MA will debut in magic round next week with Moses returning and it being rd 11 so cup contract players are allowed to play. MA has significantly improved on his errors and overplaying his hand.
Then again i sort of want him to do that as i feel we need that a little bit. He is a smart kid he will work it out. Imagine that, same venue and occasion as his brother debuting. Plus i reckon BA would feel more at ease with his debut compared to Jake's where Jake played full 80. Where Matt will be on the bench and BA can control (Unless injury) when he comes on.
I just find MA will add sort of energy to the squad. But i wonder if that means Carty is out again. So instead of Hands it will be MA.
MA still runs the ball and attacks from DH. But he has matured that he does not raid short sides for no reason as much like he was doing before. That's what we need for him because we have DB and Moses to run the attack. We don't need MA to do too much.
