For the punters out there answer the following Q's and what are your odds that Bennett will commit to Souths?
- Bennett has not officially come out to say that he has no interest or deny that won’t be coming to Parramatta.
- Why were there reports coming out of the Club on 2nd May stating the Parramatta had officially ruled out offer for Bennett yet after today’s announcement of sacking of Arthur there have been in secret discussions since 1st May and over the past 3 weeks. So the Board picked up the phone and within 1 day the Supercoach said thanks but no thanks to any coaching gig at the Eels?
- Since the sacking of Demetriou, while there have been rumours and verbal confirmation from Bennett he has agreed to terms with Souths why after 3 weeks has he not put pen to paper?
- Why have the Eels board openly come out today saying they tried but they could not land the Supercoach. Is this a smokescreen to put Souths at easy take the pressure off to just buy some time more time to finalise a deal with the Eels?
- With Bennett wanting to sign a contract after Magic round is this a drawing a line in the sand moment and test the balls of our Board to see how genuine Parramatta’s interest in him is by sacking Arthur today?
- Why so suddenly sack Arthur without any idea who is going to replace him and why before Bennett has officially signed a contract with Souths?

I've got it on pretty good authority it's a done deal. We need to start thinking about who else can fill the role.
The same good authority as when Bennett backflipped on the hand shake deal with Uncle Nick to go to the Roosters? Or his wanting to seek an early release from his coaching tenures in the past at the Broncos & Kinghts.
Let's also not forget Bennetts last gig at South's when they brushed him and said his services were no longer required and he was not going to continue there and Demetriou got the the nod. How would that have gone down with the Supercoach's ego or taste in his mouth.... Is that revenge I can see Wayne?

The board are out to save their own arses. They know fans are pissed off BA hasn't been dismissed long ago and we would all be out for blood had they showed they didn't try and get arguably the best coach of the modern era to our club.
agreed anything can happen if he hasn't signed . They should have multiple options in their back pocket though

Buzz on 360 said Souths will hold a press conference today and announce Bennetts appointment as new coach for Souths.
if this doesn't happen then it's all up in the air.
He also said it will be announced by the end of the week. I mean these are the same journalists who said Parra are slow and would not go behind BA's back, so to me I am not taking their word as too much gospel.
Unfortunately it appears Benny to South's is all but done, but, if the Eels are throwing one last attempt at him it would be interesting to see what they are offering that they didn't in the past 18 days.
Like others, feel the announcement & strange timing is more to do with saving face to the fans & sponsors.
And, to some degree I think it's worked. It's much better knowing the club went after Wayne, than didn't.
WB obviously loves the attention & playing with the media, so he's happy to carefully choose his words to leave everyone guessing till the end.
Interesting day ahead but my money is on Wayne announcing South's today / tomorrow.

Theyd now be seriously offering him the job - BAs gone now so they can make it official and if what Bennett has said is true, he only negotiates with a club that has no coach..
