  • Firstly, it's not the EPL transfer window, so deals aren't being done left, right and centre. Second, it's the last pre-season signing period before the new franchise is admitted, meaning plenty of players are stringing out negotiations to get bigger deals knowing there's an additional team coming in.

  • I think KK is staying at Souths.

  • Maybe we already have stars in the ranks already, Tuivati, Moretti, R.Pensini, Cameron Bamblett, Ryda Talagi, Guymer, Joash, Toni Mataele. So many young guns in the ranks, maybe we need just one star prop and star outside back and then bring all these kids on. Were going in the right direction, just believe in Ryles, fuck the board but i back Ryles and the players. But i wont back the board ass holes got us in this mess.

    • So we are going in the right direction but the f the board? How can that be the case? Like saying this VW golf is the best car i have ever driven, engineers did a great job but f*** VW.

Doesn't work that way, if we somehow won a comp are you still going to call the board names? We cannot be going in the right direction if the board are completely incompetent, they contribute to what Ryles is doing.

I am frustrated too but come on.

      • Because this board was the same board that got us in the mess, we should have been on a roll after 22. Yet we signed duds and kept BA at the helm for too long. Ryles comes in and parra start to play better than they have in the past 20 years go figure why.

        • Right and the same board that brought Ryles in. I am not letting board off the hook as i have stated im holding my judgements til end of 2026 to see if it is working or not. I feel we would benefit from someone like Brian Smith at least with some nouce to assist.

You are contradicting yourself saying the board got us here, keeping BA too long, they pulled the trigger and got Ryles when many here were complaining about another rookie coach mind you and who were the ones who hired him after a straneous interview period?

You are right they kept BA for a year too long, they delayed an inevitable rebuild, but at the same time let's see if they improve and right their wrong. Ryles was technically this boards first hire. First time going through this process so let's see if they learned from BA.

Also, could Ryles be the one stopping recruitment being picky and/or investing heavily in juniors? Again it is a club effort overall.

        • Parrafan, fair dinkum. Defensively fragile and in free-fall post 2020, it's an illusory narrative, self-trickery, that we should have built on the 22' GF. It was an inevitable fall under the Jeckyl-Hyde defence and coaching systems of the previous era.

"Souths also have a tighter cap too with money in Latrell, Wighton, Walker, Arrow, Murray and the likes. Plus  Gray re-signed, Duncan to be signed etc.
Apparently they have matched his money demands but the years are the deal breaker."

"I disagree that minutes are necessarily a factor in a player's value. Middle forwards often contribute more in 40 minutes than many outside backs."

"Wiz, even though I’ve got a soft spot for Gus, I fully agree with you on Cleary. Class. Pity what happened with Ando and us. Some of our players (2010) and politics let him down. Saints are lucky to have him. Not sure why he left the Roosters?"

"Keaon can play 80 in the middle, he did for Souths. Now look at Terrell May and you see you cannot do that every week. But i also agree that $900k plus for a middle is too much, exception to Haas and Tino as they are once in a lifetime talents. But…"
