Well done Jason Ryles.

We are getting better in a short amount of time, with a big roster turnover, a team full of youngsters and a massive amount of salary cap space available in 2026. Personally, I couldn't ask for more in his first season.

*Side note, the game now due to the rule changes and officiating is so hard to follow and want to watch. It's now beyond a joke. I don't watch any other games these days except for the eels. The Simmonson penalty says it all and the reason why.

Have a good weekend ✌️

  • Ryles handled it very well in the presser. You can say there's definitely a change in defensive resolve even if it doesn't look like it. Teams are taking multiple sets or restarts to crack us and Cronulla threw some really good shape at us to create room. They weren't just going through a training run.

Considering all the instability in the playing squad this year it's great to see our side beginning to show what they can do.

If we cut down on some of our early penalties we'll be in the grind for longer and not chasing the game which is where Moses can really dominate.

Again, Moses just adds so much to this side. It's almost Andrew Johns' level towards the end of his career where his presence could completely swing Newcastle's fortunes. His kicking game and ability to pull apart an opponent's defensive structure is elite.

    • From the little I saw of the highlights the attack shapes against us were very well executed and difficult to defend against any side. They were well spread out creating space and the timing of passes wi runners were excellent. I hope we learnt something from this game. Errors are mostly done through poor mental training which creates poor decision making and discipline around unproductive emotional impulse control. We get that right and our team connectivity improves in defence and attack

Two types of power wins games mental and physical complimented with smarts

  • One thing about Ryles so far is i feel he is very committed to his vision. He also does not hold onto a player just for sake of it. Guymer was not working on that edge, 34 tackles and 0 misses but was slow, so brought Samrani in. Hooked Tuilagi and Hands in RD1. He is not afraid to cut his losses if he needs to.

I also feel next year not many players are safe. If Samrani kicks on and we get a new back-rower he wont pick Kautoga unless he is the best option. Where BA was more loyal and patient with a lot more players who didn't deserve it. Ryles is open to taking risks.

  • Your a legend Burt and know your footy really well
