EELS

Off-contract: Bryce Cartwright, Ofahiki Ogden, Samuel Loizou, Waqa Blake, Wiremu Greig.

The Eels are expected to lock down Cartwright and Greig to multi-year contracts. Blake and Loizou won’t be at the club next year. Blake is looking for a shot in the Super League. The club has not taken up the option on Ofahiki Ogden for next season.

  • Greig and Cartwright were must re-signings. I got concerned with Greig being rumoured to be talking to Souths.

Ogden is an odd one though. I believe it is simply money, though he wouldn't of been on much. JJBM and Moretti are cheaper and also the same or better. Probably save 100k letting Ogden walk.

  • Cartwright and Greig are a must! Thought Ogden got better with more game time.

    • Last I heard Carty was taking less to stay with us as the club helped save his career, Greig was in discussions for a deal so both should be locked in soon.

    • Greig and Carty extending is great news but surprised we are letting Ogden go. He offered far more than Makatoa.

Also with these guys extending, I can't see why we have wasted a top 30 spot and cap space on a two bit bum like Tuilagi.

      • What's the story witu Rodwell ? Seen glimpses of him but is it possible he's getting a bigger role ?

        • I thought we already cut Rodwell.

He was another player the "experts" on here said was great and would be a 1st grade starter in 2023 but turned out to be a bum.

      • I think your wong Wong

      • He was in the beginning but he improved a lot. I think the fitter and thinner he can get the better he will be. The issue with fitness is staying that was consistently. That's the biggest hurdle. Weight is difficult to lose and easier to put on

      • Greig was playing better than Paulo- briefly, just before he injured his foot

      • did you see greig smash JFH and Leota in the last game of the season ? he beat them into submission and then paulo came on and parra never lost momentum
