We coud be at least be 2 or 3 wins further up if we had some more astute work from the coach. Although many on here rave about Ryles - and personally I like him and the things he is trying to do - he is making as many rookie errors as any of the players.
What does "astute" mean? It means tactically aware, understanding weaknesses, communicating clearly and applying all the correct resources available.
One of the obvious things last night was that Ryles overplayed Moses role - we became so predictable. We need more tactical adaptibiity and creativity.
Farnsworth sat defensively on Moses when ever he went to the blindside he loves. Just about every set Moses got his hands on the ball (nothing wrong with that) but every time the variation was negligible. There had to be room for shorter kicks as well as the perenial long ones. Not once did Moses really take a run. Were there occasions he could have lifted the pace? Could Moses sometimes be used as a dummy with a point of attack coming from somewhere else?
Are we contestng the ball enough? Having your kicker back is one thing, but at no stage did we get into a position to really challenge the receiver. On the odd occasions we did, we did not contest the kick. It seems the players are under instructions to stand next to the receiver and hope he drops the ball. I do not understand this non contested kicks. The same applies with the drop outs and in some cases defensively where they allowed the attacking side to make the mistake. That's fine when it works, but bloody awful if it doesn't. Perhaps, it is in part the fear of being penalized or sin binned? It's an areas that is undermining us.
Another issue is Ryles' selections.
Matterson should have been playing last night and he would have provided a completely different drive from the "pigs". I thought Junior tried hard but he was a bit out of sorts, almost like him needing to be prodded to get moving (herding cattle). Nothing wrong with Hopgood and Williams games, they are the workers in the pack and the people on here do not understand that or more the point appreciate it.
Russell is honest as the day is long, just a second grader filling in and he stops progress by not creating anything. Does him being solid actually weaken our game?
This game was there for either team to win on the night. Unfortunately, it was a flick of the coin and we lost.
One final thing: people need to get over the constant BA bashing. The guy has gone. But it seems that anything the side does badly is laid on his shoulders. The other things we need to understand are that its fine to have plenty of money to spend, but unless the people we want want to come to Parramatta and play for us, then they won't come! Build it and they will come, selections and poor communication with players is not part of building anything. There are players in Reserve Grade that are going well that are not geting a look in, there are players in first grade that seem to being favoured, I don't no why?

How bout just work out what you need to live comfortably and just do the right thing after that. How bout governments instead of looking at vanity projects actually invest in what really matters people.
For some reason that seems less extreme but more absurd....and just as unlikely
Comes back to how much do you really need really. You come in this world with nothing your leaving with the same.
Do the Yanks and Russians need enough nuclear weapons to nuke the earth how many times over yet here the US are moaning about North Korea testing Nukes when in all essence both of the first mentioned created this madness again how much do you need.
Hey HOE,
Very good points & agree it’s an interesting chat.
HOE, I have absolutely no judgement of anyone based on their financial wealth, regardless of which end of the scale that falls.
Like yourself, have known incredible super-wealthy people (not sure if they are millionaires per se) who have done more for others than I ever could, and likewise have known people with absolutely nothing who are the happiest & most giving people I've met - local Vietnamese were standouts.
You won’t find them on any ‘list’ however, as their net ‘worth’ can’t be monetised, unlike Forbes.
It’s not the wealthy individual, Forbes list or otherwise, it's the fascination & addiction towards wealth & materials, the obsession & idolisation of greed (especially in the US) - how many billions, how many houses, cars, private jets etc.
And to be fair, who isn’t somewhat attracted to these things? But, how many houses do you need while others are homeless?
Its not a judgement of billionaires, or millionaires, its just all circles back to greed, we are so attracted too & idolise greed, and any suffering of others left in the wake of it, is just an unwelcome distraction.
Those buddhists you mention & their beliefs that suffering is life, craving, attachment, void of satisfaction, so maybe its inevitable & human nature, something we all share, regardless of your financial status?
Im not hugging a tree right now HOE, and I am not extreme ‘left', or whatever the latest catch phrase is to describe those with empathy.
There’s just a lot that some version of financial equilibrium could solve, for millions, so personally find it distasteful in a country like the US that a list of billionaires is aired & advertised like a holy grail of achievement.
The US spend trillions on ‘defence’ (financially motivated invasion) & (illegal) surveillance, while entire towns (peoples homes) still lay destroyed from natural disasters, their ‘justice' system is so corrupted that a verdict of guilt or innocence is often a result of financial status, their prisons are over flowing with low socio-economic groups, where 4% of inmates are believed to be innocent, the US broke the global economy, and those millionaires & billionaires who were behind it & knew exactly what they were doing, just moved on without any repercussion, while Mark Zuckerberg sits on the Forbes Rich List, teen suicide have become an epidemic in the US (now the 3rd leading cause of death for teenagers), many of which due to bullying through social media - while FaceBook refuses to create online policing to prevent it, or at least, minimise it. Costs too much, perhaps?
These issues aren’t the responsibility of Forbes billionaires, and some of them have no doubt achieved amazing things without leaving lives or businesses in their wake, but, imagine what could be solved if our entire mindset towards greed changed?
Which, is a naive mindset in itself, I know.
Just my opinion HOE, happy to be wrong, or in a minority, & only mentioned this as you asked, most will disagree & I'm completely ok with that, get there are many variables.
Great post NOS
. I am thinking about the resources and pain that happened in the knife attack at Bondi. Incredible response to that event and compassion to victims of that event. Then is the misery and pain felt by thousands of people in the current wars and not much of a response around prevention and compassion to innocent victims while the world sits by and watches..
Sorry Pops to keep posting my stuff about this topic. I come across so many things that touch on things that get to me.Probably need to see a therapist. Some of the things that resonated with me are things Coryn raised. Stuff you won't see on some mainstream news outlets but is very much related to herds that dismiss realities which heavily impact on their lives.

How does free will function correctly when you have been advertised to as a child, in this insidious, ,intergrated with the sport you love, manner?
Careful before you answer because we haven't been doing this for very long.
Horse racing exists SOLEY due to and for gambling.
This is not the case at all with rugby league, further we encourage our children to engage with RL

Excellent point Randy. Out of Carl Jungs text book of consciousness shaping. We should always think twice before we listen to that phrase from our master's... Nothing against you Poppa I love your inputs on this site
The world would be a happier place if we paid more attention to an ethically base philosophy of life and listened to the god hidden in our corrupted soul
