ONE OR NONE?

There seems to be many fans that are not happy with the 1 year deal for Pezet. Personally, I'm not sure that Pezet and Moses will work as a halves combination.  I see them both as creative game controlling players. I think the best option as a five eighth to play alongside Moses is a bigger body running five eighth. I have no problem with the 1 year deal for Pezet if Ryles has another player in mind for 2027. The Eels look a far better side in 26 with Pezet than without him.

So the question remains, if Pezet was only wanting a 1 year deal for 2026, would you prefer the Eels didn't offer him the deal at all?

      • Well said mate,  totally agree.

        Fuck we look like cucks.

Poppa what would be your ideal 5/8 for 2027? Joash/Lorenzo or go to market?

  • All this makes me think that if Ryles is doing Anasta a favour, then maybe Anasta will return the favour. Anasta is also Munster's manager...just a thought.

  • I just watched the podcast and I think it's a good move. As far as us developing a player and then handing him over to the Broncos, I think that he's already developed and is FG ready. From what Anasta said about him, he sounds like another Gutho topping the fitness etc and his work ethic. If he and Moses click together then I believe everyone on here will soon be singing his praise.

  • This is worse than the Foran signing.

There is zero benefit in this for us and that was confirmed by Pissant Pezet's manager Bwaith Anasta.

I didn't have a very high opinion of Ryles to begin with and this only solidifies my thinking that he isn't the right coach for Parra.

Sarintinos and O'Neil should be sacked immediately for this load of crap.

    • What about worse than Watmough signing? 4 years?

  • None. Its weak AF.

  • NONE.

Let's face it, we are only claiming that we are putting our faith in our UNTRIED or tested jnrs, simply because the R&R can't land anyone. We simply have no choice but to back our jnrs.

Our recruitment team is made up of SHITC#NTS.

  • None. I've said it before, I don't see the fascination in Pezet amd now this 1yr deal is BS. I also don't like the talk about having fantastic jnrs.....heard that crap all before. If you want a quality player, stump up the cash. On that note where the fark is all the money being spent?
Funny how people say Ryles is doing Braith a favour, why can't Braith have done Ryles a favour?

  • What Ryles achieved the 2nd half of last season, with a team so far under the cap, was pretty remarkable.

To keep this team committed & fighting every week, especially when results weren’t going their way, proved serious coaching abilities.

It shows what a committed & 100% ‘buying in’ team can do, and how it can compete with elite natural talent.

The biggest concern with Pezet’s signing, imo, is that we risk losing a lot of that spirit Ryles built within this team last season. That ‘buy in’ that clearly had such a huge impact.

How does a one year signing for a young player who has committed long term elsewhere, not negatively impact a playing group?

There was a lot of camaraderie, unity, a lot of energy amongst the group last year, those intangibles that help create defensive resolve like against the Warriors, or spirit to beat the eventual Premiers (with the most inexperienced spine in the NRL)….

The Eels didn’t win those games on natural talent, and now it feels this signing puts it all at risk.

Ryles backflipped on his mantra for a player who has achieved very little, is by no means a sure thing in first grade, who isn’t a 5/8th, and who will have one foot at the door by mid season, especially if he has any niggling injuries.

If we wanted a one season 5/8th play, Adam Doueihi would’ve been perfect - a year at 5/8th, then into a another position, maybe that was a tough sell for Douiehi, but, Eels didn’t seem interested from the outside.

If Pezet is not good enough to sign long term blocking paths of emerging talent, then there is no point signing him at all. If he is good enough to sign long term but has rejected that offer for another club, then that is embarrassing & I can't see any elite clubs agreeing to this move.

Ryles has been fantastic, so backing his judgement, but this feels like a move with a lot more risk than any potential gains - hope he proves us wrong.

  • Sounds like we are just babysitting for Brisbane, which is the hardest part for me, F... Brisbane! and this bullshit about he's going to come and he's coming to win now, it all sounds nice, but un-realistic to think he will just gel straight away, it takes time to build combinations and 1 season isnt enough
