The run home

So I've done a quick study of each teams run home and see where everyone is likely to end up based on strength of schedule (SoS).

The caveat is that this is obviously a static look at the ladder & draw, and doesn't take into account teams that are in

R9 v Knights: Winning Habits Put To The Test, Away From Home

“Winning is a habit” and “Confidence is contagious”, marks Lombardi, the legendary Packers’ coach.

The Eels are certainly not short of both this year. And our reputation as soft-bellied champions is slowly eroding away, game by game, on the back of mo

Cautious Optimism: My years as an Eels fan

There’s a popular saying: Once bitten, twice shy. Well, for an Eels fan try 200 times bitten, 400 times shy.

For those lucky enough to experience the halcyon days of the 1980s where the Eels were kings for three consecutive years and then gave legend

Brad Arthur vs Anthony Seibold

Brad Arthur has had a bit on his plate as Eels coach during his tenure. The debacle created by the former CEO with Kieren Foran's contract, the subsequent salary cap dillema and the inheritance of a fractured roster when he first took on the role as

KEEPING THE MOMENTUM GOING OR MORE: THE BENCH AND 14

A  chain is only as strong as its weakest link.

As good as we played against the Cowboys, we softened up towards the end of the first half once our bench guys came on. When our starters Nuikore, Junior, RCG went off, we lost our dominance in the midde

R8 V COWBOYS: NO REST TAMING THE RODEO

“If you have everything under control, you’re not moving fast enough,” said racing Legend Mario Andretti.

Last Saturday night, we had everything under control, at 24-12, with barely five minutes left. Many of us felt an air of fate, having a cigar wit

Parramatta Eels halves options

The Parramatta Eels will have to do without livewire halfback Mitchell Moses after he succumbed to a calf injury midway through his side's match against the Canberra Raiders. Head coach Brad Arthur has revealed it's a recurrence of a previous calf in

BLOCK 1 done, BLOCK 2 expectations

I think I've read previously or heard coaches state that they generally set team goals for the season in 3 x blocks of 8 games, so given it's a 20 week comp we have just finished out first "block"

It was always going to be a big challenge even withou

R7 v RAIDERS: ANOTHER CHARACTER TEST; WHO WILL MAKE AMENDS ?

Sir Alex Ferguson used to judge the character of a player by how much of a "sore loser" they were. There's a saying: "if you can accept losing, you can't win". At least, not anything of note; and we can't accept last week's loss, just because we show

The Real Deels

The Sydney Roosters showed why they're favoured to become the first team since the Eels of the 80s to three-peat when they overcame the Blue and Gold on Saturday night in the best game of the season so far.

But in losing, the Eels displayed qualities

Brown facing two weeks

Not sure if this has been discussed, but Nathan Brown facing two weeks for his hot on Radley. Got to love his enthusiasm but its no good if he is rubbed out for weeks at a time. He's only just come back.Does he tone it down and we risk losing his agg

R6 v Roosters: A Point To Prove; When History Meets A Heavyweight Champion

Both teams are vying for a place in history. The Eels have shown heart, but recently the Roosters have looked like rock-star Gods again and deserve favouritism in this match. But, both teams face potentially their greatest tests of 2020, so far. Natu

The Big Swinging Dick of the NRL has arisen.

We've skipped past the one city team, the Broncos and are now breathing down South's neck. The vast legion of Eels fans are slowly coming out of the woodworks. If a premiership was to come, I'm sure we'd be aiming up close to 40.000 members. We've go
