Latrell try?

All the footy chatter today about this full time try by Latrell. What peoples vibe on this.

Play to the whistle, yes fair.
but for me lacks spirit of the game.

How would we feel if we were on the receiving end?

He went down on the knee signalling game over, so broncos didnt crash him.

Feel might lose respect from other players.

  • Look at the end of the day, if say Moses did the same 98% of people here will say how good was that. But another person from a different club does it and it is a bit more split due to morality.

I had no issues with it at all to be fair, play to the whistle.

  • No problem with it at all, actually showed that he has a smarter footy brain then most give him credit for. The one I had an issue with was when Manu faked an injury and the players stopped and then he went and took full advantage of the situation but what trell did was brilliant i was laughing and cheering at the time (yes if it was parra I would have been swearing but at our players for not making the tackle). If trell is at dummy half on your line he is going for the try no matter what time is left on the clock.

  • As a defender you couldn't win . You take his head off , he claims he was injured and we are debating whether the defender is dog .

  • If you ever watch the end of an NBA game or NFL game when the result is beyond doubt there is an unwritten rule that you don't attack the man with the basketball or hit the offensive line or quarterback when he is taking a knee.

Conversely the man with the ball doesn't do some sneaky play to take advantage of this "wind down" situation in the game.

It happens at the end of most NRL games when the result is decided like it was on Friday night when a player will take the final hit up in a slow half hearted way and the defense will half heartedly wrap him up to finish the game.

If Latrell wants to play in that manner I hope he is happy to except the consequences when any player decides to "play to the whistle" and go in full force whilst he is in a half hearted frame of mind.

    • Yup, exactly.  I hope someone has the balls to totally wipe the floor with him once he's long forgotten this example of poor sportsmanship, and decides to take a knee when they're down and the games done and dusted.  Everyone I've discussed this with that's played the game agrees , yeah you play the whistle , however that's an exemption when a player submits in that fashion as they may very well be injured.

He's actually done player welfare a huge disservice.

"Dogs score again. Eels have their RM players in the middle for the past 10mn as Hands and Matto are off the field and we gettign rolled in the ruck."
