  • Great read. Glad he's doing well for himself. Such a great young player, imagine him and Moses on the field together.

  • He got me so excited when he played those first couple of years. I will never forget the prelim final against the Cowboys, we were looking great that year, disapointment in parrallels with the 2001 GF. Brilliant cut out passes, kicking game and a decent running game. It's interesting that the ABC ran that full feature story on him and is a testement to his playing level those couple of years. Good comparisons to the other stars in the game at the time and what might have been.

  • Enjoyed reading that article. Thanks for sharing Bert.

Almost forgotten about the talent around Smithy in that 2005 side. Too much to expect from a rookie half to carry that side to a title. The expectations of him must've been unbelievable.

I hope he's really moved on and has overcome his demons.

  • Great article! He was such a entertaining player to watch. I used to see him all the time in Bondi rolling around on his skate board.

  • I have often wondered what a switched on, no mental health issues, no alcohol and no hamburgers long term halves combination of Tim Smith and Feliti Mateo could have achieved. Especially if they stayed switched on (fit and focussed) for long enough to still be around when a young hayne hit the scene only a few years later.

    • Oh yes, With Inu firing in the centres.

  •  Great read.

He had all the attributes apart from great defence but he was special to begin then once it started to drop it became to far a climb to get back to what he was

  •  Great Read...Sometimes I forget these guys are Human....it takes a lot more than talent and courage to have a good career in the NRL ...its a brutal sport...and as fans sometimes we expect a lot maybe too much ...I couldnt do what these players do....even the shit ones lol

Glad he has a good life family and all going well for him fairplay Tim Smith

  • Great read. Tim is still a freak

  • Ah the first year of high school for me back in 05 and I remember seeing him live. Was exciting to watch then disappeared with off field issues.
