Queensland prop Joe Ofahengaue to switch to the Super League on an immediate deal.
It is understood that Ofahengaue has played his last NRL game for the Eels and will leave the club to take up a long-term contract at Leigh.
Eels are set to re-sign a host of players, including centre Will Penisini, forwards Sam Tuivaiti and Toni Mataele, and halfback Ronald Volkman.

Im a big Fan of Kaufusi i was so upset to see him leave love to have him back we going to need big experience forwards next year with Joe gone Paulo on he last Matterson and Cartwright on there way out
I'd say Joe did exactly what we needed him to do. Held the fort long enough so Tuivaiti could turn into a first grader.
Not sure why we are re signing Will Peninisi. He is very average.
He is average but the one thing on his side is that he's 22
Is upgrade to Volkman only for this season?
Keep ripping that band-aid off. No point in treading warily now, let's clear the decks.
I'm sure Joe O is a nice bloke but I never liked his signing. He's full of errors both in A and D. As a 4th bench spot/ NSW Cup regular I was OK with that. But as our starting NRL Prop in 2025, I knew we were in deep shit.
We must have a TON of cap space now.
We were going to with Ofa going. He was on $500k this year on a ratchet clause, as to why Wests were keen to get rid of him. I liked the signing with RCG here, he was a nice 3rd Prop in the rotation. Had a nice end to 2024. But he was not into it this year it seemed. You are right, rip the band aid off, free up cap to get Galvin this year? Lol or maybe get another forward we can use moving forward.
I was never thinking Mataele would be extended but since he is, he could be a nice cheap depth option for us, get a debut soon.
But for next year already we have:
Brown $900k (reported)
Ofahengaue $500k
Cartwright $500k
Greig $300k
Lussick $300k
Roughly $2.5 million.
Now let's say for argument sakes we get Galvin for around the same as Brown. Still have enough to get two class forwards. Then if we can move on Matto and Lane thats an extra million roughly to spend.
Is it a coincidence this happens straight after the Galvin drama?
Nah as Brown being released would have freed up cash for Galvin. No way we get Galvin and keep Brown for the year.
This is not to free up cap for Galvin at all considering he's only on about $250k this year. Most of that would have been paid. We have the money.
Another tick for Mark O'Neill and the team, well done.
