Jake Clifford?

Been a fan of this bloke for sometime.Strong kicking game, solid pass selection, good in the air and hard runner close to the line. With cows meeting with CHT and if they get him.Itll prob squeeze out cliffo.

He'd actually go well with Moses I reckon. What do youse think?🤔

      • Desination clubs somehow manage to keep "elite" junior talent waiting in the wings for longer than we seem to be able to.

I do think we have to get better at this "next man up" or "finishing school" mentality where junior players see that it's worth their while to stick around in our system longer than they do as opposed to jumping ship at the first offer they get elsewhere.

I know we can't win them all, but I do think some other clubs do it better and there's something we could learn.

        • Agreed. The players need to know what the plans are for them, and why they are set in place like that. They need to know what KPIs they need to hit in order to progress to the next level. This way the guys in lower grades will know that they are not yet ready for NRL, and so should be reluctant to jump ship as that would be detrimental to their development and hence earning power throughout their career.

The ones who do leave are simply after the money, and they are probably not the players we would want to keep. Still a lot of work for the club to get to this stage, but I feel it's critical that we get there, especially as a "development" club.

          • Great comment Longfin, we don't have to be all things to all people. But we do have to matter to those who we want to stay and I'm sure that's all in the plan.

        • Cap, unfortunately, our history in retaining players had been so bad. It appears the FO cannot and HOF cannot sell the vision to the junior players for them to stay and wait as shown 8n he number of. Players that had left for other teams.

  • Clifford is the definition of 'bog average'. I cannot honestly remember anything he's ever done on the footy field, barely even noticed him. Hard pass.

    • He is currently in career best form, stats so far this season,

      8 games

      3 tries

      7 try assists

      6 line break assists

      4 forced dropouts

      90.7% tackle efficiency

87 average run mtrs per game

      I wouldn't say no.

  • CHT or Metcalf would be perfect next to Moses.

    • Agree, I'd go for them for sure.

      • what about life after Moses, could either one of them take the leading role ?

        • I don't think so, but you don't normally rely on a 5/8 to do that? They're your attacking threats, not generals.

"Agree. Had initially hoped Penisini developed into a decent centre but he hasn't.
I'm now hoping Samrani could be that guy that solves our centre issue. "

The media made a point of it as well. Immediately.
It will be interesting to see if the media press him on it this week. And I wonder if he'll 'sigh' or have a 'chesire cat' smile about it.
