Daniel Saifiti about to medically retire due to shoulder injury-aged 30, $800k/season.

Matterson has played no games this year, 31, $700k/sesson, repeated concussions but no sign of medical retirement.

Is Matterson the one who won't agree to retirement? Seems like there is so many precedents re medical retirement that this should be fairly straight forward but still hearing crickets re Mattersons  retirement

  • I believe that would be it as Matto might feel he could play on or risk his pay of some sorts.

  • I wonder what the relationhsip is right now between him and the club. Is he persona non grata or is he mixing freely amongst the players and coaches? He's not even listed on the latest injury list.

    • Him being used for Melbourne trade for Lomax I reckon went down like a led balloon.

  • He was pushing for an extra year contract with Melbourne so I suspect he thinks he could play another year. No club will want him, however

  • If it cost him a dollar he would hold on for 5 years let alone 1.

  • Matto has sought independent advice i think he still holds hope of playing again.

    That's what ive heard anyway

    • And Choc Mundine still thinks he was the best player in the world when he played
