Iongi still hasn’t returned?

I find it surprising that Iongi still hasn't returned to training.

I know he was part of the Tonga squad he doesn't have to but given he didn't play a game i would have thought he'd be keen to rip in and try and give himself every opportunity to be successful is what will be his first full time FG gig.

You have seen a number of young players who did actually play  return (Katoa, even Blaize from the top of my head)

I might be reading into this too much but I hope this isn't complacency now he's got the role...

  • Hmmm

    maybe injury?

tbh anything other than injury is a worry and your right he has lots of work to do.

  • I think Blaize was there for Rehab and Katoa is a leader and veteran.

Id say, if he hasn't returned, Iongi is simply taking the holidays he is entitled to.

Crichton and Luai and others who arrive and work hard outside of the expectations of their contracts are exceptional and maybe Iongi isn't yet. Maybe he never will be that. Maybe he tried to and got told to take the rest by his coach.

Plenty of maybes and I appreciate the concern SB but I think its not too much of a big deal

    • Appreciate your thoughts mate

  • The time off is mandatory . He's not allowed to come back and train with the side. As I understand he can come to the facility and use the gym or whatever but he isn't allowed to train with the group.

  • He was still in camp for that time so technically hasn't had his annual time off that he is entitled to.  I will never critique someone for taking there leave entitlements.

  • Not complacency, he is keeping fit, he will be first choice fullback next year 👍🏻

  • I see Dane Laurie playing in our local touch footy comp and was wondering why he wasn't back at Penrith doing the pre season. They must get time off.

    • Few Dragons players floating around in the touch summer comp here too. Like Laurie , they're more the fringe guys probably looking  to increase their speed and skills a bit.

  • 5th of december is what im hearing

  • I'm sure he's doing sprint work or training with the Dallas cowboys or something don't worry he will be doing something he's the no.1 for the Parramatta eels

"He looks bigger than Twidle to me. Taller anyway.  His contact will improve as he gets stronger and he can use his mobility to find his place at 6.  Coaches can challenge a players defence easier than teaching that natural flair in attack.  "

That's what the Knights want to do with their spine,  not sure if that's good enough for a premiership but it will get them playing finals"
