Hard to feel sorry for the bloke when he goes on national tv a few weeks ago denies any interest in a player then signs him a few short weeks later. Media and fans are absolutely crushing his credibility and it's just a bad look for the game when a player takes 500k less to join the club that Gus is the head of. Pressure will firmly be on the bulldogs this season as anything less then a title will lead to a backlash

At least they'd try to do it legally

Meanwhile in Melbourne business as usual they'll load up with another worker and continue to build.
This is how it's done. Winners don't get obsessed with what their competition are doing. They just get on with the long game of winning.
I was surprised how many thought Galvin would become an Eel.
He's coached by one of the best 5/8s ever has a 4 time premiership winner as a partner yet he wanted to leave to 'develop' his game?
I always thought LG would go to a team where he can be the chief playmates. Get over it and be glad we missed out on him and his ego
Agree with you Al. When he said he wanted to develop his game, seriously doubted it would be with us. Not because that would or wouldn't be possible, but mainly as our coaching staff are just new and unknown to us all and esp back when he said it. Compared to his high school teacher and JT it was never a contest with galvins confident words about wanting to develop. Plus everyone is forgetting they have Laundy funds off cap too. There's no way the kids was ever gonna kiss millions goodbye.
clearly this has all been set in motion a very long time ago... no one would knock back hundreds of thousands difference point blank without knowing there's an acceptable taker for your services, which dogs always were. Doubt we were ever a dead set possibility as much as many hoped or expected.
gould treating the nrl officials like baboons...
being completely honest I'd really doubt he and Moses would have worked millions of dollars well anyway... not coz of lack of talent but more playing comparability Dylan's game was set up around and to compliment Moses' strengths and style. Somehow can't see Galvin happy doing the same.
This is a serious issue—especially given the extent of betting involvement in the game. If the NRL wants to maintain any credibility or uphold proper governance, they must hold Phil Gould accountable and require him to relinquish one of his roles.
The concern isn’t just about the alleged grooming and being wax lyrical . As someone reminded me, Gould made comments on 100% Footy—either a few weeks ago or when this story first broke—suggesting the situation was untenable and that the Galvin should be let go. That’s the General Manager of a rival club using his media platform to exert pressure on the Tigers for his own club’s gain.
Channel Nine also has questions to answer. As a media organisation, they should be deeply concerned that one of their highest-profile figures is openly misleading the public.
What pressure is that he's just putting an opinion out there.
Tigers don't have to actually listen and I'm pretty sure there were plenty of media plaudits out there saying pretty much the same.
Media misleading the public nooooo say it isn't so,
I don't think anyone should hate Gus or anything like that but the media is certainly going in on him and fans just think he's a straight up liar lol. A man is only as good as their word and right now public perception of Gus is pretty low.
The Dogs were running dead last 2 years ago now there running at the top end.
Now when you say public perception your talking in a singular context because I'm part of that perception you mention I don't think what he's doing is untoward at all.I know he's just walking a well walked path understanding how to best use the system to his clubs best use is all.
The perception your trying to describe are the ones that don't understand how the game works.
You're correct Kenny, he was 100% putting pressure on Tigers to let him go. His virtually saying the TIgers management were doing the wrong thing and he knew better . Which in turn makes Tigers members ( voters) start to question their ability to run their clubs. Just like politics , once the voices in the media start making noise voters pressure the leaders for action. Gould knew exactly what he was doing ,a dn he wouldn't be able to do it without the platform he's got on TV.
If we had any brains we'd find someone to do the same for our club. Do we think the pEniss's and Brandys of the world would constantly death ride us if one of their media mates was in charge of us ? Fuck no .
