Hard to feel sorry for the bloke when he goes on national tv a few weeks ago denies any interest in a player then signs him a few short weeks later. Media and fans are absolutely crushing his credibility and it's just a bad look for the game when a player takes 500k less to join the club that Gus is the head of. Pressure will firmly be on the bulldogs this season as anything less then a title will lead to a backlash

As is usual with Gus, and the way he does things, he has a limited shelf life at a club.
He is the man to bring in to change the culture, change the direction, change the system within a club. Albeit he makes clubs better and stronger. However in doing so bridges get burnt, people get shafted, and personal opinions change after the adjustment. When the path is set and the club is on the rise he is invariably on the nose. Just look at his past he has left the Roosters, Penrith exactly the same way.
The thing you can't go past is he changes a club for the better and gets everyone onto the correct path with the resources to succeed. The man knows what winning looks like, so much so it ends with his need to depart when the culling stops and the winning/ dynasty period begins.
Any chance he could help the Eels out in 2030 perhaps.
