Exactly what Gus said, does anyone believe that bullshite? That's just a way to get around the cap by saying 'Galvin really want to play for us and that's all we can give him'. Can't wait to hear the dollars that have been offered.

Gus - ' Galvin has come out and said his preference is to play at the Bulldog, so we are going to try and accommodate that'

    • And it will

  • if they come they come  if not it's not the end of the world just move on to the next half. If it was me I'd be going for Hugo Savala he is better than Sandon Smith and wouldn't want to sit behind DCE and Walker, worth a shot.

  • At the end of the day whatever Club had Vella, Galvin's school coach is the club that was going to always get him

Just happens that is the dogs

Good on him for following a mentor he trusts and believes in

Ultimately disappointment for us eels supporters but I am confident that Ryles has a plan outside of this

If Ryles gets the team playing the way they did the other night regularly then we will have other 6's lining up to play for us and probably for much less we would have had to pay Galvin.

I'm also confident this sudden purchase by the dogs will not win them the premiership and in fact will upset the whole team dynamic and cause a real issue for them

  •

This is very disappointing, and feels like it goes beyond Galvin.

The publicity of this whole situation is a concern.

Galvin wanted to go where he could develop as a player, and despite the Eels links & advantages, we have lost in a very public two horse race.

Losing Brown & now failing in attracting Galvin is a terrible look for the club & marketing to potential players.

Ryles is building accountability on the field, yet off it, we still seem well behind.

It’s not about satisfying us Eels fans & being reactionary, but because whatever or however our recruitment are selling this club, it’s clearly not working. It’s not giving players the confidence that at our club is where they’ll play their best footy.

We are moving in a positive direction & that’s fantastic, but Ryles can only get so much out of what he has. We can’t rely on all our junior talent to become genuine first graders, we are going to need recruitment also & if we can’t convince someone with deep Eels roots, how are we convincing others?

I know plenty disagree, but feel this is very disappointing for our chances in 2026-2028.

    • I'm right there with you it's not as though we were coming down the home stretch and it was a 5 horse race here.

The fact he chose a club that hasn't developed a half since probably Brent Sherwin tells you when Galvin has mentioned he wants to go to a club that he feels he'll be developed is an indictment on us as a club. We've even unveiled probably the best centre of excellence in Australia this week and yet it's still not enough.

How do we attract talent if we haven't got guys who can sell the story or close the deal.I swear last week we were paying a $1.03 almost a sure thing yet here we are now.Even went back to the table with more and it still wasn't enough. We are an absolute cluster fark in recruitment and retention area.

Even worse NoS if this goes sideways on JR who do you think takes the hit.I'll be dead set surprised if anyone in our R & R space or ceo space get punted shocked.Where's our chairman in all this, watching the titanic sink is he.

      • Exactly.

Why was none of that enough? Was it the Eels falling short or was he always headed to the Dogs?

And the problem is, the truth doesn't really matter when it's this public. The fact the Eels couldn't convince a player they wanted & needed regardless of $$ looks really bad. Those optics matter.

Hopefully we end up wrong on this one.

      • I think the development aspect is all rubbish. He wants to win premierships, simple as that. Plus the slightest element of development he trusts Luke Vella who coached him at Westfields Sports High.

  • I know that I can be somewhat of a conspiracy theorist I realise this is out there with the best of them and I'm hoping someone can clarify this theory Could Gould have approached Galvin last year in the trade window Made the deal knowing what a shit storm it would become at Balmain with one of their contracted players but told everyone involved to keep quiet Remember he was the first to come out in support of Galvin when the shit hit the fan and he was very outspoken about not being interested

    Classic conspiracy theory!!!

  • Galvin is a dog who belongs to the dogs. F him Gould and those dirty fuckers who are lucky enough to play the storm only once this season.

They only beat us by a little last time we played . Parra to beat them an next time

  • who knows maybe tittie tickler might have a change of heart
