Eels reveal gameplan - follow HayneUpdated: 09:39, Saturday August 8, 2009Parramatta winger Eric Grothe makes no secret of his gameplan for tomorrow's NRL clash with Newcastle - just follow Jarryd Hayne. The Eels head into the crucial clash on a three-game winning streak, having revived their season and now looking a realistic chance of securing an unlikely finals berth.Much of the resurgence has come down to a series of devastating performances from NSW Origin star Hayne, who has taken his game to another level in becoming the standout player of the NRL in recent weeks. And Grothe said the Eels players would be foolish not to capitalise on the form of their red-hot teammate by going along for the ride.'Everyone's playing good jumping on the back of Haynesy,' Grothe said.'It's not too hard, just watch him, go and follow him and things happen.'He's one of those blokes that when he does get the ball anything can happen at any time and you're kind off hoping that he busts the line there and probably six out of ten times he does.'Being a winger you just back up and get on the end of a lot of that stuff and it makes you look good.'Grothe wasn't the only one singing Hayne's praises heading into the match at Parramatta Stadium, with Knights coach Brian Smith all too aware of the danger posed by the 21-year-old.But Smith called on his captain and star player Kurt Gidley to step and be the man to outshine Hayne.'Haynesy's on fire at the moment,' Smith said.'His form in the league is second to no one at the moment.'But we've got a fair player in our captain and our fullback as well and the influence that each of those guys will have on their teams is enormous.'While Parramatta have returned to winning form recently, the Knights fortunes have gone the other way having not won since round 18, putting their finals hopes in serious jeopardy.http://www.skynews.com.au/sport/article.aspx?id=360355They sit in eighth spot but know another loss could open the door for handful of hungry teams knocking on the door for finals places, including the Eels, who can move to within one point of Newcastle with a win.'We're still there, we just need to get our performances on track,' Smith said.Smith said forward Chris Houston was an outside chance of returning from injury, while the Eels are set to welcome back Kris Keating and Feleti Mateo.I don't know why, but i hate the fact that its all hayne...like we can't be dependant on him 80min of every single game!
