I don't think anyone has noted this story, which appeared in The Australian last Friday.
Eels ponder full-time medical chief to take on drug and concussion threats
THE combined threats of the peptides scandal and growing concerns over the impact of concussion has led Parramatta to contemplate appointing the code's first full-time chief medical officer.
In what would be a first in the NRL and the AFL, the CMO would be a doctor who would be responsible for all medical services delivered to all grades at the club.
He or she would oversee all player treatment and supplement use and would be charged with ensuring players' health was not put at risk.
Very heartened to hear this, and I think it's another good example of us getting better structures in place.
"I don't know what all the answers are but we're very conscious that sports science, sports research, medical advances, needs to have an absolute, co-ordinated approach," Seward says in the article.
Good example of an area that should report through to director of football. I know when Stuart came in, one of his first staffing changes resulted in us getting rid of a very well-regarded sports scientist, who then went to Melbourne I believe, which I remarked at the time seemed a strange decision. Would seem to me to be an absolutely no-brainer in professional sport today.

Seems good, dank will do the job.
For players welfare a great idea.
Maybe it really should be an NRL appointed/funded entity though. If we're the only mob doing it, there goes a level playing field with performance and injuries
The Watermelon drink?
Great news, total restructure of the way we run a footy club. This is a great initiative from the B.A.D.A.S.S team.
At least we are running first in this regard, could be an omen for next year.
