GALVIN SHOCKS EELS

Lachlan Galvin’s decision to join Canterbury has gone down like a lead balloon with Sydney rivals the Eels.

Sport Confidential can reveal Parramatta bosses were supremely confident of securing Galvin and believed they had their man before being ambushed by the Bulldogs.

It is understood the Eels had tabled a multi-year, $1 million-a-season deal for Galvin to partner Mitchell Moses at the Parramatta scrumbase next year.

But the Wests Tigers young gun shocked the Eels by taking less to go to the Bulldogs.

Galvin’s management have been criticised for allegedly brainwashing the teenager but the 19-year-old made the call to reject Parramatta of his own volition.

          • Matthew Beach as a new voice is a start, give him time to see if he is just a deciple of McElduff or if he is different. Ryles is a start too. The issue is lack of confidence in MON and Sarantinos. I contend that MON has had some positives and Sarantinos has done well in the financial aspect of his job. But we are still a bit soft in that area and need more nouse. Brian Smith is old but getting him in with a younger new HOF would work well. Have someone with football nouse and is great at talent identification, granted he hasn't been in the game for over a decade but he will still have that skill knowing a good player when he sees it. Can he work with MON? Maybe but a new voice entirely might be better.

I wonder how Ryles feels about MON? Now he is in and settled and showing improvement, i wonder if he will start to get over MON. BA and MON's relationship was apparently always rocky, i wonder how Ryles handles it and will the board side with Ryles to get what he needs since they invested in him.

But if MON cannot get what Ryles needs, he needs to bang the table for change.

            • While it's nice to look within ourselves looking for the good.

Im looking at what we have to go up against off the field.

I mean right now and over the last decade where have we been next to the Roosters Storm Brisbane Riff and now the Dogs as examples. We've engaged reverse the last 2 years going from near the top to the bottom and yet it seems like the coach is the only one off the park held responsible for that.

Ive seen not to much positive over the last 12 months off the park for us and this pretty much filters to what we are on it.

Im not with you on Jim or Mark much like playing talent surely we should be looking for better.

We.should be looking to improve our talent on and off the field no one gets comfortable.

              • I might feed your post into Google translate..

    • Frankie, I think you are taking advantage of the circumstances and leveraging the case against O'Neill and Saratinos.

Given our history and the rhetoric before this million dollar offer got out there the price was 750 Dogs and 800 Parra. Much more believable in my opinion.

It seems one of the few facts we know is that Isaac Moses went from Ryles to the Chairman in an attempt to extract more money (for himself of course, he was wearing two hats and could not lose).

So Frankie how can you argure that O'Neill and Saratinos should be sacked on that basis.

WAIT! Stop! Beach is the Chairman and is therefore the head of Parramatta, is he not ultimately the one that makes a decision and if not....whose HEAD do you want? He has therefore supported his subordinates decisions.

PS Your are a supporter of BEACH and believe he is a good operator......your qualification is required Fongy i.e. WHY?

      • Mathew Beach is a top Bloke and a very smart cookie. He is a local and absolutely is a dedicated Eels fan . Ive got a lot of hope with Mathew as our chairman

        • So people keep saying that about him, but todate I haven't seen any evidence of that as the chairman of the club.

          • Well I'll give you one big one that he stated at the members  meeting . NO more options like get out clauses in any futher contracts plus give him a chance to he hasn't been chairman for that long

            • Hector, one thing that often gets forgotten is the policy to stop all new player-optioned contracts happened shortly after the 2022 GF (before Beach was chairman). Beach publicly admitted that as well.

Oddly, that decision coincided with the sharp decline of the Arthur squad from mid-2023.

Also, outside the Panthers and Gus/Dogs every club uses POs (even Harry Grant at the Storm had a PO, so did Cheese at the Chooks). Tino's PO contract is the biggest in the comp. Fifita had options as well. As much as some like to crap on the club for using them once, it's commonplace everywhere.

                1. Sorry Hoe but we still had players with opitions 4 i think  at the start of this year Brown Pennisini for get the other two at that meeting it was stated  they were working to get them sorted out before  pennisini was sorted out Brown as we know took his option and at that meeting Mathew said there will no more contract with player options
                • Earlier this year, Beach made a statement confirming that the PO policy change happened shortly after the 2022 GF. Before his appointment as chairman.

That is, NONE the dozens of NEW NRL contracts since early 2023 have POs. Zero. Nada.

However, yes. You're right we still had PO contracts before that time - for the likes of Dylan, Moses, Penisini, and Matto - that were either negotiated out or ran their course this year.
