  • Good players get missed all the time I think he'll reach that given status eventually.

    • It's an absolute disgrace that Kenny isn't already an immortal.

Whoever selects that group (likely journo's and groupies) need their fucking heads read. If you've got any doubts, go and watch the 1985 Challenge Cup Final.

  • My favorite all time Eel. Must have scored 15+ intecept tries in his career. Uncomparable footy IQ.

    • Simply the Best

      • Nice Avatar Bobby, your a very handsome man....actually you would be even in that guise smarter than 90% of the "groupies" that post on here.

If anyone had their doubts on Kenny, just watch the Origin highlights reel. Finally and I have nothing against Wally Lewis, who was a great player and deserving immortal status but who ever selects the immortals should note that on a Kangeroo tour Kenny was picked ahead of Lewis at 5/8 when both were at their best.

He appears on the Origin Trophy with Lewis in an arm wrestle. If the NRL are fair dinkum about origin, why not both parties recognised as immortals.

Some very good players have been given immortal basis and Kenny rates ahead of Langlands, Johns, Meninga and Coote in my opinion..... you need to be better than great or champion, that's why he should be one......not taking anything away from those guys he should be ahead of.

        PS I saw them all.

        • Yes i think i scrub up pretty well for an old bastard hey but can't get the booger out of the nose. In all seriousness yes we were lucky to see all of those past greats of the game

        • I agree 1000% regarding Bert being better than the player you've mentioned .

The only thing I can think of why he hasn't been made a immortal is the fact his career pretty much ended in 87 after he did his ACL in the beginning of the year against the tigers , he was never the same player after that so he basically had 6 years at the top .  If that is in fact the case then you could easily say that what he achieved in those 6 was superior to what those players achieved in longer careers.

Wally Lewis only made  his name in origin and the Qld competition which was inferior to the NSW comp , when he played  in the NSW comp with the Broncos he was a flop and couldn't handle the week to week grind in a superior comp.   Before Bert did his knee he conquered all before him in every arena , he was the greatest 6 to ever play the game and in the top 5 greatest players of all time.

I remember about 16 years ago I hired a guy who was the same age as myself and about a week later we were having a chat about football and  he said he thought Terry Lamb was a better player than Bert , he never lasted long after that comment .

          • Got a job for an old retiree Frankie. As you know I don't tolerate fools very easily. Wiz will be a referee, I have some experience with Playstations, my guess is to you could go well with board games LOL

Terry Lamb was a fine player, but he its chalk and cheese comparatively.

  • Wow Brings back some great memories He was the ultimate intercept king His running stride just glided him across the ground I met him once before the team ran on at the Seagulls stadium Tweed heads I think he captained the eels at that stage Really late 80's early 90's and he was just about the only player left from their heydays I remember it being almost surreal being one of only a handful of spectators and we got absolutely flogged

  • My favourite player....the next best for parra after Ray ......should be an immortal but thats another story
