Article on Parra's newest recruit

This Tom Humble kid must be an absolute GUN. He's won the Player of The Year and Player's Player awards in a team that made the Queensland Cup Grand Final. We've got him on a two-year deal, and he's only twenty. He could have a massive future in the game if he continues to improve.PARRAMATTA-bound Tom Humble has credited the Northern Pride for providing the right playing environment to help launch his NRL career. The 20-year-old was the big winner at the Pride’s presentation dinner at Brothers Leagues Club on Friday night, taking home both the Player of the Year and Players’ Player awards.Humble, who was used at five-eighth and fullback this season, was one of the stars of the Queensland Cup.His brilliance helped the Pride make the grand final but he and his teammates could do little to stop a rampant Sunshine Coast winning the decider 32-18.While the defeat still hurts, Humble said it was an honour to have his season contribution recognised at the presentation dinner."I was definitely surprised I got two awards, especially when I thought there were half a dozen other blokes who were just as deserving," he said."I was happy with what I achieved."I would have loved to have won that last game but success is not just about how many games you play or how many tries you score."I made a lot of friendships at the club."Duney (Andrew Dunemann) and Chris Sheppard really helped me out in the halves and guided me about and showed me a lot of little things I could do better."The improvements Humble made to his game obviously impressed Eels coach Daniel Anderson, who signed the Blackwater product on a two-year deal.Humble, who officially links with the Eels on November 9, wants to crack first grade in his first year at the club."That’s got to be the goal otherwise there’s no point going down there," he said."All I can do is have a good pre-season and play good football like I did this season."They’ve got a couple of blokes leaving at the end of the year and are looking at me as more of a half or five-eighth."I’ve spoken to Daniel Anderson and that’s where he sees me in the No.6 or No.7."Humble said it would be exciting to watch his new teammates topple the Melbourne Storm in Sunday’s NRL grand final."Melbourne are going to be tough to beat but I think the Eels can do it," he said."I’ll be barracking for them."So, we'll have no shortage of halves then... Mortimer, Robson, Keating & Humble... I'm pretty sure this kid can play anywhere in the backline.

  • Man where going to have a sweet arse squad next season. Regardless of whether or not we go in as Premiers, surely we'll be seen as the team to beat. To think this kid who could have been starting fullback for the cowboys won't even be in our top 25 is scary.

I think Humble is going to be a more than handy acquisition for us.
    • Definitely mate... How good has our recruitment been!?
      • Yer mate it's been tremendous. It's been an all round fantastic season for the club as a whole.

Its funny, its hard not to look forward to the success we should have next year, then you stop and think that where IN THE GRAND FINAL THIS SUNDAY haha.
        • Too right. It's like Phil was saying, we're playing so well at the moment... and we should be even stronger next year. I know it's too early to say, but at the moment it looks like we could be extremely strong for a very long time.

But yeah, looking forward to SUNDAY!! haha

"Yep, that's a recipe for disaster.  With no brown next year we're a high chance of spoonville. Cant see Mitch waiting out  his prime to see if we come good. We need to turn it around fast or we'll be stuck in the doldrums for a few years. "
