Bathurst

Who is looking forward to the big race?

I followed the touring cars as a kid and was a Dick Johnson tragic, but I lost interest when he retired and all the cars started looking the same. Drivers were swapping teams between Holden and Ford and I didn’t follow it for decades.

When Dick Johnson joined with Penske, I found myself sucked right back in again and I am to the point now that I love it.

So, grab ya Winny Reds, a stezza with some Acca Dacca on it, ya favourite flanny and GO SCOTTY McLACHLAN!!!

  • I still watch it. But don't really have the interest like I used to. As you say, all the cars are the same now and it used to be a lot more chaotic when it wasn't part of the championship as you had privateers in all sorts of cars lining up for that one race against the pro teams.

Plus, I was a Peter Brock fan for so long, followed him from the HDT days, then in his various Mobil 1 Racing cars (Commodore, BMW, Sierra then back to a Commodore, then I started follwing HRT when he joined them in 1993. When HRT folded and merged with Triple 8 Racing, I lost interest in that team and started following David Reynolds, mainly because of his stunner of a missus.

    • Yes, Ms Reynolds is quite the catch for Dave.

I am enjoying watching the Mustangs succeed and they are very different looking to the Holdens.

Man they look awesome and I hope that we see a couple of Mustang drivers on the podium.

Chaz Mostert is smashing it this year and may be a smokey.

      • Mostert Looks the goods at the moment

              • Bathurst never fails to deliver. And no refereeing controversy. I was on Reynolds all day, and until that last safety car, he was right there. Always love watching Bathurst no matter who wins

"I think De Belin would still start, at least for 20. And I think Williams will go back to edge and Kelma to bench. It'll be very straightforward.
I think it'll be another close one. "

"I agree, Blore was great for Melbourne and i wouldn't mind him at Parra. But he is off-contract for 2027. Why not wait to get him then? Why trade 2 players for him? Blore is not a player you trade 2 players for.
Fa'alogo? Yes. Grant? 3 players yes.…"

"Though to be fair, how many of our players last year looked average before they worked out Ryles' defensive scheme. I have decided to give De Belin a bit more time to prove himself."

"If this is the Eels of old, they take this game lightly and just take it easy until they realise it is too late and Dragons are up. No need to start fast as St. George drifted off last week. "

"Despite their loss last week, I reckon the Dragons are going better than the Eels currently. This will be no easy game. We must meet them through the middle. If we try and play cute it could get ugly. "

"I'm with you chief in regards to de belins form, he is struggling with the pace of the game this season which is lightning quick.
How much longer ryles can keep morreti and guymer out?."

"Have you forgotten how bad hopgood was playing that 13 role last season, there is a reason he was moved to the prop role. He had multiple unforced errors in every game playing that role,  he hasn't been the same since his back injury in 2024.

"In the past we could count on 2 points when opposing Saints. It's no longer the case. What we saw in Saints two games so far is cause for us to be wary.       They've toughened up and competing hard could be troublesome for us.

Hard to compare but I think the right edge looked better with Samrani on the weekend. There is no doubt Will has alot of talent but he looks like one of those players who would excel somewhere else since his debut he hasn't really been challenged for…

Did anyone else notice in the post-game press conference that whenever the journos brought up Pezet, both Ryles and Moses seemed pretty reluctant to lean into the praise?Their body language was interesting. The vibe was basically, “he’s still a work…
