Will cause Galvin cause a domino effect?

So Lachlan Galvin will be somewhere in Western Sydney in 2026, but not sure where. Between two biggest teams in Sydney, Eels and Bulldogs, for the signature of the 20 year old. However, a deal with either team can start a domino effect to where we can come out good either way.

Firstly is if he signs with Canterbury, it could start a chain reaction with Burton. Will Galvin take the 6 or 7 spot? Will Burton look to move on? Could we captilalise on Burton wanting to move on.

Secondly, if he signs with us, more likely a three way trade will ensue with Parramatta, Newcastle and Wests Tigers all involved. Changing the market with players moving on quicker than thought plus some rearraging of players in those clubs, particularly Newcastle who may need to find more cash and Tigers with a player making way in the 17 for KPP.

But there is another point that is slowly being brought up that could shake the market also and we could benefit from. Tallyn Da Silva. Api Koroisau is in negotiations with Wests to extend past 2026, talk is to at least 2028. Meaning Da Silva, off-contract in 2026, will have to wait til 2029 to be a full-time starter where he will be 24. Now some will say just wait, but if the kid is getting offers to start elsewhere who can blame him. Where he comes into the equation is he and Galvin are inseparable, they are mates from Harold Matts days, both Western Sydney boys. Da Silva can easily follow Galvin to either Dogs or Eels. Ryles could want another Hooker to pair with Smith, while the talk of Mahoney moving was brought up twice in short amount of months. Da Silva goes to Dogs and Mahoney is on the market, we could pounce. Yes, Ryles apparently said no when offered, though things can change.

Some here will say we are better off the just investing in Smith and Coinakis in the future, and yeah we have that benefit, though Da Silva could shake the market up more if he is wanting a move to be with Galvin at either Belmore or Parramatta.

Do we go for Da Silva if offered? Do we look at Mahoney if offered? Or do we sit and wait and see what pops up eventually? With expansion around the corner, this being the first pre-season Perth can sign players in 2027, if offered an opportunity for a player maybe we take it? Though i feel either way we could ok with or without Galvin. But getting him could get even better.

  • Best option is sign sandon smith then try get a Fifita for the edge. Team needs to be more rounded for sure especially with our edge forwards

    • Yeah. Fuck no.

      • Not sure if spending 1 million plus on Galvin is the way bro lol, let the dogs do that and ruin their lineup 😂

        • I like balance and that was our squad in early 2020's. But seems Ryles wants, what BA wanted also, Edge's that can play middle also. We might also lean on a few edges coming through the grades.

    • I feel Gold Coast will try and do everything to salvage the Fifita deal. Hasler will be gone and Fifita will be happy again.

  • Silva will also be at the Dogs. Bred not Bought.

"The one thing on our side is Mitchell Moses. I'm not sure Galvin is ready to lead a side at 7 into the finals. For his development learning next to Moses at 6 is the best career option. If the dogs go south guess who is going to get all the blame ?…"
