Former Rugby Star Ian Hindmarsh Follows His Passion For Dairy Industry
Some professional sportsmen are left floundering and unsure what to do with the rest of their lives when their playing careers are over. But not Ian Hindmarsh.
The former NRL star and seventh-generation dairy farmer had no such dilemma when he retired from professional sport at the end of 2007.
“I was lucky. I always knew what I wanted to do after rugby league. I knew that, even before I started playing,” Ian said.
What Ian wanted to do was dairy farming, a profession he grew up around and continues to enjoy.
“Dairy farming has been a passion all my life,” he said.

Is there a better, or more appropriate magazine than 'Onya' to run this article?
Best of luck to Ian.
I was sad to see him leave the Eels when he did - but finding out more about his 'life' puts a bit more perspective into things.
He was a great foil to brother Nathan in the early part of the Century.
I skulled 2 glasses of the same stuff in Greece, they call it Tsiporo.A brown bottle of some beverage was being passed around,I was gulping the stuff down, not really tasting what it was, until someone ripped the bottle from my hand and said "wtf are you doing you moron, you want to die?". With nearly 3/4 of a bottle of that vile spirit in me,I spewed my guts out into the snow, and that was the last thing I remembered until I tried to wake up for a slash.I saw the Grim Reaper standing over my bed,and the bastard kept pushing me down with his staff everytime I tried to get up.Needless to say,I have hardly touched the stuff since then.
I came home from school one day and found a goat tied up to the Hills Hoist.Apparently the rich neighbour who owned the boarding house behind us got the goat as a pet for his kid but his missus didn't want it.So I had a pet goat. When it was constipated,my dad gave it tsiporo to open the floodgates. It worked!
I was disappointed when the brothers of Nathan Hindmarsh and Nathan Cayless left.
That Hindmarsh was never rude to the fans at fan days .... the other one, tho he got more accolades, was rude on the occasions I met him, the worse was at a "family fun day" at Ringrose Park.
I'll never forget the way he treated me or worse still, the way he treated my daughter that day.
NOT classy at all ... maybe it's because there were no cameras around that day for "the white Wendell" to look good.
did you just say that Nathan wasn't that Great?
What??/ get off the crack
He's fishing for a comment exactly like that one.
