They obviously have to pick Luai. He is a 6 and plays on the left and the other two arent and play on the right. Luai is also proven and is the best nsw 6 available, so there is no reason not to pick him.
Re the 7. That's actually for the first time a more challenging question. But you'd have to think Cleary still deserves first shot. If we lose though....
I depends on the form of Mitch and Jerome over the next month. Cleary will be picked 1st, if Mitch keeps having blinders like he did the other week, Daly will go with Mitch and have him play at 6. Luai is playing well, but I wouldn't say he's dominating.
Laurie Daly said his greatest mistake from coaching Origin was picking players not in form and instead staying loyal, so I think he will make his decisions around form.
Based on that, whoever is playing better out of Luai and Moses will get the 6 jersey.
I think Cleary has being exposed as a halfback that can't play at his best without his champion side. I haven't seen him take Penrith over the line on his own this year, Moses made a huge difference to the Eels & Luai has done the same to the Tigers. Moses waited for his time & he took it with both hands, him & Luai had huge games last year they won us that game. They have done nothing wrong, let them play in game one, I think they will smash it together at 7 & 6.
It would be suicide to pair Cleary and Moses. Moses biggest asset is his kicking game, it will be nullified playing on the left, NSW would be better off with Luai partnering Cleary, but with Daley as coach, he's more than likely to play someone like Schuster or Talagi there. With Daley being coach puts NSW behind the 8 ball to start with.
I would not say it would be a disaster. Moses' kicking would be lowered due to the left side sure but his kicking will still be a factor. Moses more so is there to take control and allow Cleary to play as he sees. The issue with Cleary of late in Origin and now NRL is when it is all on him he doesn't cope. He needs someone to do the organising for him to go ultra Cleary mode. Moses can do that when game is getting away from Cleary.
If anything i think Moses and Luai should be the pairing if anything, it worked last year. Keep it simple stupid really.
The way I see it LB is, on the right, Moses is a brilliant kicker, a great short side player and runner. On the left all I see is a fill in 5/8 that will be playing second fiddle to Cleary, and if it doesn't work you can bet it will be all on Moses.
I dont think if it fails it will be on Moses, if anything i think people will defend him as he has won a series carrying NSW. Cleary has not. Therefore i believe the media will go with Cleary doesn't do well in Origin narrative.
I don't know... even when Cleary hasn't been great, the media froth over him and find any reason other than 'he played shit' to shift the blame away from him. I reckon they will spin it as 'Moses can't take a backseat to Cleary and thats why we lose'. Cleary is a great system half, but take him out of it and put him Origin or Kangaroos, not so much
Personally, I don't think Cleary is the type to make those around him better, like Moses and Luai (as much as I think Luai can be a grub). If most of the old Panfers boys get selected for NSW, then maybe Cleary plays better, but who knows.
If its based on form, Cleary has had how many rounds and underperformed? I think tonight will be more of an indicator how much impact Moses has on the side
"Absolutely Bert, well said.
A lot of respect for JR, he's made some really brave calls for a first year coach & it seems to be having an immediate impact on attitude."
"We cant get him. He is signed till 2029. Said he wants to be loyal to Wigan. No NRL get out clauses. So the next option is KPP and develop Samrani/Latu"

cleary is struggling at the moment and has never played very well at origin.
