THE boss of UK club Warrington has revealed he hadn’t given up on signing Chris Sandow, declaring the out-of-favour Parramatta No. 7 was someone capable of “putting bums on seats’’.Sandow has been given the rest of the week off by Eels officials after he accepted a two-match ban for his illegal shoulder charge on Canterbury’s Brett Morris. But there now remains just 72 hours for Sandow to decide if he quits Parramatta - and accepts their $50,000 blue and gold handshake - and links with Warrington before the English Super League transfer deadline. The little halfback is still in dispute over his exit payout because of problems reportedly relating to $200,000 in unpaid third-party agreements.Warrington CEO Roger Draper told The Daily Telegraph he was keen to have Sandow on board immediately, but nothing could move forward until the playmaker and Parramatta settled their messy financial dispute.Draper said Warrington weren’t in the position to prop up their own offer to compensate for Sandow being left out of pocket by the Eels.“Obviously we’re interested in Chris, but there’s a lot to sort out down there. We’re awaiting news on a daily basis as to what the situation is,’’ Draper said.“We’re always looking for world-class players, sometimes these things come off, sometimes they don’t, and we’ll see how this one plays out.“The ball is in Chris’s court. Hopefully all those issues can be resolved with Parramatta, and we can then have another discussion before the Super League deadline on Friday. We’ll take it one day at a time and see what plays out.’’http://m.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/nrl/warrington-wolves-still-want-chris-sandow-but-only-if-he-sorts-out-contract-mess/story-fni3ga7r-1227451503343

  • He"ll be gone by the end of tomorrow
  • Why is he quibbling with us over third party payment? I thought they had nothing to do with the club. He's blown more than that at the pokies. It's a bit rich trying to hit up the club to cover his financial shortcomings. Thanks for those games you played well in Chris, but now please, please, please f**k off.

    • If you want to believe Paul Kent then sandow personally called up one of the Obeid's to ask for his money that he's owed in TP's.

  • Maybe Sharp needs to send out an email to members asking for a donation to payout Sandow so he can meet his deadline.
This may be one of the only times a fundraiser collects more than the required funds.
Maybe QANTAS might come on board and also offer free airfares to get him there in style.
    • I'll supply the shipping crate.
  • I can just imagine that phone call."Give us me money, ya lebbo c**ts!"

  • "We're always looking for world class players".. LOL
  • The club is totally in the box seat here.
Sandow wants to go, he can leave with $50k and walk straight into a $500k contract with a SL club by Friday. All good
    OR
Sandow can try to play hard ball, miss the SL contract deadline (Friday) sit on the sidelines getting the rest of this year's Eels money and have absolutely nothing to go to next year. It's not even a choice.
Sure the Eels would like Sandow's cap money to spend this year on 2nd tier players but it's not a deal breaker for us. We'll make do either way. But Sandow has until Friday to accept his SL offer. I'd be threatening to withdraw the $50k payout too......just for dicking us around.
    • Who is his manager? Hmmm?
    • I'm not sure that we do have the upper hand in this. The main thing we want is Sandow gone and the main thing Sandow wants is to get paid. He only has to hang around to get what he wants, whereas to get what we want we need him to agree to go. As for his offer from Warrington, the big money starts next season. The rest of this season (if he can organise a release) is for a token amount. Pretty much identical to our offer for Gordon.
The reason Gordon was frantic to get here this year wasn't for the money, it was because our offer for next year was contingent on him being able to start straight away. At his age Gordon was desperate for another $200k-$300k before retiring, and we tried to pressure Cronulla to let him go by saying we would only sign him if he could start now. The Sharks called our bluff and kept the player.
The difference with Warrington is that they've already said they'll sign him even if he can't get an early release - they're happy to wait until next year. They're not going to up their offer just to help us let him go.
There's a good chance Sandow will stay and receive the full amount of his contract. The alternative is that he is out of pocket $80k minus whatever Warrington can afford for the rest of this year (which would be less than $20k).
