This turned into a big long post, so to summarise:
i) Given my time limitations at the moment, I have formed a moderators panel who now have the ability to suspend members
ii) Please keep site-related content to the Site Matters group. Our moderators will be using this group more to log suspensions and blog deletions, and we've set up a new blog for people to raise issues about content that doesn't meet the Code of Conduct.
iii) Lots of people use this site from all walks of life.
If you want the ins and outs, you can read the rest, otherwise feel free to move on with your lives.
As those of you who have been around here a while know, I spend a lot less time on the site during the off-season to give both my business and family more of my time. We generally let things get a little looser in the off-season, but with the size of the site now, it's seems apparent that things are going to slide into chaos with that policy this year.
So I'm putting a number of things in place that will exist for the off-season, and possibly on-going.
1) We have five moderators - SuperEel, Patsy Stone, Miatch, Johno and Slaytanic. SuperEel, Patsy Stone and Miatch will form a new moderator's panel. Previously, I've been the only one who has been able to suspend members, however if all three of the moderators agree that a member has acted outside of the code of conduct, and they have failed to address their behaviour after a warning, these three moderators now have the ability to suspend a member.
2) As has been the case in the past, members will receive a warning before being suspended. A first time suspension will result in a three-day suspension, then a week's suspension - while after a third suspension we may decide on a permanent suspension. Extreme violations of the code of conduct may result in stiffer penalties, than the standard process.
3) We will be making greater use of the 1Eyed Eel Site Matters group. I don't believe the majority of people who come to the site want to read posts about other members, so please don't post about issues related to moderation, etc in any of the main blogs. That Site Matters group contains a blog, where the moderators will log warnings and bans, as well as deleted blogs with an explanation as to why they're deleted (obvious duplicates excepted). Chat bans will also be logged. If you're interested in all of that admin stuff you're free to join that group, to follow that stuff. If you're not, then it will help preserve the Parramatta and Rugby League focus of the main blog area.
4) If you have any issues with content on the site, please use the Complaints blog if you'd like to point out any blogs or posts which you believe contravene the code of conduct.
I thought I might make a couple of points, so as to manage people's expectations of how this site operates and what it actually is.
1) 1Eyed Eel is a social network and blogging platform for Parramatta Eels supporters. We are always going to have posters who are either overly critical, overly positive, don't express themselves well, have nutty ideas or struggle with spelling, grammar, etc. We have more than 3,300 members, and up to 5,000 visitors hit the site on any given day and 40k over a month. There is a very good chance that you're going to disagree with people or think that some are knobs. If you're looking for drone-think and sanitised content, this is probably not the place for you. If on the other hand you think you might get a kick out of engaging with a rich-tapestry of equally-passionate Parramatta Eels supporters then you'll probably enjoy the site.
2) Our moderators are volunteers. They don't site on the site for 24/7. Indeed, there will be times when circumstances mean that a moderator doesn't log in for hours at a time. That often means that some content that should get moderated, doesn't, for a period of time. Again, if you're looking for somewhere where every post goes through a legal and ethical filter, 1Eyed isn't the place for you. If you don't like certain posts or members, just ignore them!
3) If you do want a much cleaner feed of content - bookmark this. http://www.1eyedeel.com/forum/categories/top-blogs/listForCategory
Top Blogs are the only real filtered part of the site. We add the most interesting content, you won't get duplicates or meaningless blogs and we tend to moderate these blogs a little more strictly for abuse, etc.
Finally, here's a reminder of the code of conduct. We genuinely adopt a common sense approach to maintaining this, but if you repeatedly cross the boundary and don't adhere to warnings or interpersonal bans you can expect to be suspended. If you do get suspended, accept you've crossed out boundaries, and don't do it again. If you get suspended, and send me an abusive mail, I'll take is an expression of your desire not to return.

I'll leave this in Top Blogs before closing it and moving it into the 1Eyed Eel blogs category. This is not an invitation to bag the site, mods, etc as I don't want the front page filled with more crap. If you want have a beef, use the Site Matters group linked to above. As always, constructive suggestions welcome.
Just joined Site Matters group, Where is my BEEF
We're waiting on Dank to make his next supersized steak delivery.
Had a T Bone at the pub last night, didn't look that good.
That's been considered, however due to the fact that doing that delays the release of breaking news as well as requiring a lot of man hours, it's simply too difficult to complete it to a high standard. The Roar uses that system and it is incredibly frustrating when you try to upload breaking news and it isn't approved for 12 hours or more due to a backlog.
This is the point. A site with a front page full of posts about the site, is highly uninteresting. All of that content needs to go into the Site Matters group.
