THE EELS RECRUITMENT METHODS HAVE ME PUZZLED!

Can someone please explain to me why the Eels regularly publicly announce the names of players they are interested in attracting to the club? By doing this they leave themselves open to criticism if they fail to land their target.  I have little doubt that Gus was always interested in signing Galvin, even when he said that the Bulldogs plans were elsewhere.  I wouldn't be surprised that the reason Gus publicly said these things was because at that stage the Eels looked like certainties to land Galvin. As Gus said "the goal posts moved regarding signing Galvin ". I believe this became the case when the Bulldogs became the favourites for the Galvin signature. Announcing an intrest for a player and missing out is something that Gus rarely does.

So please Parramatta Eels, until you have your target don't say anything at all. You can't be criticised for failing to land a player if you don't announce your intrests or intentions.

  • It's mostly the media who dig and link players to clubs, they also linked Galvin to dogs for a long time. Gus just lied as much as he could to try cover it but everyone sort of still knew what was going on

  • Only problem then becomes "why aren't we chasing more players"

That's the problem slippery, no one is ever satisfied.....just ask your wife Lol

    •

Not exactly. What is the problem with releasing a statement or answering the media by saying,  the coaching staff and management have identified certain holes or areas that need improvement in our roster. At this stage we have identified several players we are interested in talking with who we believe could be a good fit for our club and themselves. We have a clear direction in moving forward with the type of players we are looking to bring into our club as well as the current players in our roster we are wanting to retain moving forward.

  • We are like a young virgin in a bar hunting for his first root . We miss out on the hot blondes with the big boobs , then work our way down through the ugly ones with the good rigs right down to the fat heifers who are more than happy to be our 5th best option.  Then we buy them a gym membership and a treadmill for home and sometimes transform them into something you're happy to been seen in public with.

    • LOL...those were the day's WIz...... you me and mons, going down to the bottom paddock, you and Mon's running around like frightened fillies and Poppa sayin slow down fella's one at time and we have them all!

You guys were certainly new to it, I remember yelling to you Wiz,mount the filly not mons you daft littel pony.
