1. Reni Maitua (Lock)*

2. Matt Keating (Hooker)*

3. Ben Smith (Second row)

4. Willie Tonga (Centre)*

5. Ben Roberts (Five-eighth/Halfback/Hooker)

6. Cheyse Blair (Centre/Wing)

7. Daniel Harrison (Second row)

9. Pat O'Hanlon (Second row)

10. Matt Eisenhuth (Second row/Front row)

Maitua, Keating, Ryan and Tonga are still a chance to be apart of the Eels team for 2014. Who are we going to recruit or promote to replace these players?

  • With a host of our depth players off-contract, I'd suspect the club is set to at least re-sign a decent amount of them, as per the members email that stated the club was in negotiations with some of the off-contract players. When that's all said and done and we know who they are, I guess we'll know what sort of depth we have.

With that all done, the club can then (or at the same time) look at bringing a couple more players in to round things up overall.

It'll be in the halves depth where the side may struggle with an injury or two, seeing as it looks likely both Kelly and Roberts are leaving, based on what we know of the players that were told they can look elsewhere. That is unless they're one of the players that the club is still in negotiations with to re-sign & thus they stay.

  • No problem Tanklyn, just trot down to the local park & pick up a couple of extra juniors on Sat arvo. Easy peasy. We may have to pay a fine for breaking our 2nd tier salary cap but hey who cares.

  • POH has to be retained!!!! he is better than lasalo /reni put together

    • I hope POH has a great game tonight and is given enough time on the field.

  • I was watching the QLD cup, it is great in QLD they put it on before the NRL, Channel 9 Sydney should put NSW cup on before main game. Anyway, the Mackay Cutters had 2 players that would improve our squad for this year and next 2014. Anthony Mitchell had a great game at No:9 has been a discard at a few clubs now but is playing well out of Dummy Half, scooting and kicking well and defending strongly. Sam Hoare a big, young prop that worked hard all game in the QLD heat. He did a huge tackle putting a player back into the in goal to force a drop out before scoring a barge over try from about 10 meters out. It was one of those tries where they should have gone wide but he called for it at 100mph and crashed over dragging players with him. The kind of forward that inspires his team mates. Then after that he made a play on a back to tackle before try line but was not fast enough. The important thing was he did not give up and this was in the 70th minute it was about 26 degree's too hot for most props to chase. Anyway, Mossop, Hock, Norman and Hoppa are all good signings if there are others I will be stoked if not we will be better than this year

  • & you wonder why the teram has some half-hearted performers on the field every week. Solve it now Ricky!!
