Staunch Eels

In hinesight of recent players leaving our club, I'm actually happy with the eels recriutment, Not letting players or player manager,s hold the club to ransom. We as a club don't pay overs anymore, we have been there and done that and it did not work ie Jaraod Hayne, since we changed this mindset, we have been a top 4 team. We have a lot of talented Jiunors coming through 7 in the emerging blues squad. If players don't want to be at our club piss them of. We pay players what we think they are worth now wich is a good thing. If  Brown wants to go Fuck him to, see ya buddy don't let the door hit you on the  way out. The Panthers do this really well bringing through Juniors instead. As a club we are looking at the blue print and we are looking the goods. Our club is bigger than any players, if we had of paid Mahoney PapaliI and Nuikore what they wanted we would have of screwed ourselves. PLAYERS NEED TO BE ON THE BUS OR GET LEFT BEHIND ie Ivan cleary tigers lol.

IN BA I TRUST!!!!

  • Appreciate the positivity but every year for the last 35 years someone says the same thing.

    • Can't live in the past mate you will miss out on the here and now.

      • Yep, have also heard that for the past 35 years.

  • I understand the fans being pissed off with loosing players because we have an emotional attachment to this club that the players don't have. Having said that, I am an Eels supporter and have been for almost 50 years and players come and go but I don't like so many others and one thing that has been a big issue in the past is loosing juniors so there is a big upside to what is happening because we do have a good crop of juniors coming through at the moment.

BA has been able to get players that other clubs have let go playing at a high level with Papali'i being the most recent and there have been a many more. We have not bought a super star but have managed to be in or around the top 4 for the last few seasons which show Brad can get the job done but its in the juniors that I think it will start to pay off.

I coached my sons team at Cabra in the same age group as Jake Arthur while Brad was coaching at Rhinos and those boys are now 19 years old so they are getting to the age to start pushing for a spot in the NRL as seen with Jake, Will Penisini and Sean Russel. Apart from coaching the Rhino's team, BA got to follow the growth of players from all the clubs in the Parra comp which gives him an insight into the next generation of players as well as an understanding of what the Parra junior league required to get the best out of the juniors and that is evident when you look into the changes that have been made to the junior comp. Combined with the fact that these juniors were getting coached by a current NRL coach also has to be a big advantage.

BA has a relationship with the next generation of Parra juniors that no other NRL caoch would have within their respective junior comps. He knows their skills, he knows their temperament he even knows their families and that could be what brings loyalty back to this club. Like the Penrith players at the moment, most of this next generation have played in the same comp, the same rep teams and as I can confirm through my experience watching my son, they are all good mates no matter what team they played for.

I honestly believe we as fans are about to get what we have been wanting for a very long time. A team made up of awesome Parra juniors. I look forward to seeing what is next for the Mighty Eels.

    • 100%

      • The new rule changes and the speed of the game seems to suit younger players. Ie the panthers.

        • Good stuff Jim, you have been one of the more balanced posters on here for a long time. I always look forward to your posts.

Your insight on BA's knowlege is very pertinent, I just wish he didn't balls it up last year with Jake's fiasco, (my interpretation).

I have a pretty good insight to these matters and I wish that BA had offered young Jake and opportunity to go to Newcastle and be developed by his mate up there. Jake will need to be as good as Cleary to get through whats in front of him and he can bring his father (not the kids fault) down in the process. In saying that if his leg speed develops within the next 2 years, he may have a chance.

          • Doesn't matter how much his leg speed improves, he's always going to be slow for a half. You can develop stamina but your can't even buy speed. He needs to be quick between the ears and have a good idea what's going to happen in the next 2 tackles as Cronk or Sterlo did. You need foresight when your legs are slow.
