  • I think we'd be silly not to be sniffing around at least. It's our biggest weakness.

    • 100 percent mate.

  • He needs a attitude adjustment asap.. I don't want him on reputation.. He needs to earn his spot.. So much talent!!

    • Surely he's just unhappy a bit like a work place if your not happy you check out, I've got a sense despite how shit we are ryles has good man management skills.

      • Really unhappy he's on 1.2 mill or something silly and has been for the last 3-4 seasons.I mean if he's unhappy whoever signs him he's taking a huge paycut in the order of half a mill at least. If he's unhappy at the Titans on the wage he's on them whoever he goes to next are screwed.

      • I mean perhaps, since Holbrook was not great as a coach, Des is a forward personality too, so maybe Fifita enjoys playing under Ryles more and goes above and beyond. I mean he is a high risk high reward player. For me Fifita is perfect for a premiership window team. Say for us in 2022 he would have been a perfect signing as we were gearing up for a tilt.

        • He loved Holbrook and he had Mal Meninga , his idol as his mentor , along with Gordon Tallis floating around at training regularly.  What attributes would you say that Ryles has that's going to ignite him that the aforementioned didn't have ?

Having met Fifita twice, he's actually a very nice kid, polite , engages with the fans ( great with the kids ) , appreciates everything that has been awarded to him ,  but he just seems to lack that mongrel , it's almost like he wouldn't want to hurt anyone which sounds weird.  Point is , I just think he's makeup unfortunately is that he is wired in a way that he can't get the angry enough into his persona to want to go out there and stomp kunts , which is what's needed for him to make the use out of the body he's been given.

Talking to him is like talking to Mike Tyson,  imagine Iron Mike if he didn't have the killer instinct . That's how Fifita comes across.

Im not saying no to signing him, im just curious as to why you think Ryles is a better mentor than any of the 3 blokes he's had prior to Des ?

          • I did say maybe Wiz. Maybe he likes Ryles style. I did not definitively say Ryles will get best out of him more so if he met Ryles he might say yeah i want to be coached by him.

I said maybe as i have no idea at this stage, just an assumption.

            • In my opinion  there's probably only one or two coaches in the game that could get through to him, he needs a total rewire.  Bellamy and maybe Bennett.  The reason why I say Bellamy first is purely due to location being down there out of the spotlight.

Old Benny, purely due to the fact he's got runs on the board re-inventing players. That and the fact he's old school and wouldn't be too scared to give him some truths unlike the younger progressive coaches. Which in itself could just as easily backfire.

But Holbrook was like a father figure to him, he called Justin to ask him what size shoes he should buy (hyperbole Ploppa , relax ) , so he was certainly happy being coached by him. That wasn't an issue . He just needs to find a way to get angry on the paddock.

If I'm The Bears , he's my #1 target. Perfect location to tear him down and start fresh.

      • @Bob Merkins

Bob, this is your statement "'I've got a sense despite"  how could that be ? you put shit on any and every thing and one and then you write a blog saying you have "sense"...... sorry Pal....you have to prove that!!!
