Gus also said Parramatta were crazy to let Gutherson go. How did that turn out

Gus knows more about R&R than any of us, no?
But imo Ryles made the right call to let Gutho go. For all parties.
You disagree now do you?

It's a worrying sign when a solid few of us on here start to all have the same concerns.
Hopefully we're all jumping at shadows. I just see so many comparisons to some of BAs tenure and where he also got hindered and stuck and am worrying that we haven't fixed some of the fundamentals in the club prior to just swapping out the coaching staff (for a rookie coach).
Assuming to be mind readers, or knowing more about R&R than Gus or Ryles, are different issues to the concerns about our defence or plugging holes in the roster.

100%. I think with the finish to the year last year. In particular the 60 pt thrashing of Newcastle. Plastered over the gaping holes in our roster. The winning preseason was a sugar rush which gave everyone the warm and fuzzier. Unfortunately the players we have bought this weren't the correct selections. The barometer for me will be the newy game.
We can assume the worst, or maybe we're mind-readers, but how exactly are we so sure Ryles is “passing the buck” on the refs?
He gets peppered with refereeing questions practically every week. Maybe, just maybe, he was surprised he wasn’t asked. Or maybe he just thinks 25 penalties/restarts in a game is a bit ridiculous. Who knows?
Gus has been saying for refereeing this year is over the top and all over the place, and even this week he’s called recruitment as challenging as he’s ever seen. That’s essentially what Ryles said about recruitment this week.
He'll probably get asked about it by journos about that or they'll joke about it, and he'll probably have a laugh about it.
"I think you're probably right Macy. $1m on the cap likely won't be enough to get Herbie notwithstanding TPAs he'd attract on top. If PNG want him, no club could compete. I don't know his personal circumstances, so it's hard to say."
"Hmm maybe give him a game or two at the end of season since I assume we will be out of the finals race. Let's see how nsw cup goes for a few weeks first "

Gus has been saying for some time recruitment is the most challenging as he’s ever seen. Even over the last week.
What Ryles said, which aligns with that, is just grounded in reality.

I'll be extremely pleased to be wrong.

Quick fix. Cmon we've been a below average side since 2001.
Blaming the ref is usually what a coach does when he has run out of ideas.
I hope that's not the go here.
I think not only was Ryles having a shot at the officiating but also at the media also
