Last night one of the social blogs devolved into another religious "discussion". I'm going to say it again, because the discussion involved a lot of long-time members who should know better. 1Eyed Eel is not the place for religious discussions as it invariably offends those of whatever faith is at the centre of discussion.
Our code of conduct clearly states:
" Do not post content that might be considered racist, sexist, homophobic, or any other content that might be considered offensive to other 1Eyed Eel members. This is a Rugby League site, for discussions about Rugby League. Social blogs should not be divisive or used to inflame other members."
If that is not clear enough for you, I've now added.
"Religious discussions are not allowed".
What was most galling last night, was that when the moderators started doing the job they've volunteered for on behalf of you all (late on a Friday night I might add) some of you started to have a go at them for deleting posts. They're protecting me because at the end of the day I cop the fall-out from any discussion that goes too far, and they're protecting you because if you post content about non-football related material that is going to reflect badly on me, you're just going to end up with a long-term ban.
We allow non-football related discussions on this site because it adds colour to the site and I know a lot of people here have developed close friendships and you like to discuss broader topics with each other, but if you can't keep it within the limitations of the code-of-conduct, you'll force the site down that path.
And if you dare to have a go at any of our volunteer mods on this matter, you'll simply be deleted without a second thought.
It's game day and I don't want this to be the topic of discussion hours before a match but please understand that I cannot be more serious this. If you have an issue with it, PM me.
