Watching last night, I don't believe Dylan is anywhere the level he was attaining.

Whether it is the ACL tear (definitely lost pace) but his body language showed to me in pre and post game interviews he doesn't want to go anywhere. I think he sees Parra is home and whilst no one can complain for him taking the 13m, I wonder if he will ever be happy in the Knights wilderness.

I have always been a DB fan, but I also think we burn't him out in the last 2 seasons and confused his role in the process.

I now see DB as a 600pa player and if he maintained his original potential say 800k. i.e my implication is he has lost 25% as a player.

WE have most probably won the jackpot as I think we have seen the best of him whereas I question his future now. I would be surprised if he retains his NZ Test status when you look at the Warriors and their young half.

Watching his current game he is missing tackles, whereas previously he hardly missed a thing. He has also lost confidence in the line, doesn't know or understand his role by the rules that made him recognised in the first place.

We are very lucky and whilst it has been said repeatedly, I cannot believe how dumb the Knights are as he will never be the play maker they have signed for. O'Sullivan has a lot to answer for!

        • That's the maturity and experience part alot think what there seeing of DB is it.The growth is what you mention around those mentioned players.

Thats what Newcastles job is now over the next 3-4 seasons to actually develop him into a 7.They have that issue now.I dislike him going purely because our pathways in the last decade or so haven't proven we can develop these soughts of players and that's our challenge going foward.

DB Talagi Sanders all halves gone in the last 12 months.

          • Maturity & experience will play their part as we've seen with Moses & Hughes especially.

But, there are genuine personality traits consistent across elite halfbacks that im not sure DB shares? But we don't know him, and yep, the Knights obviously know where he needs development.

It's frustrating that we couldn't keep a developed junior in such an important position, but i guess it took the largest contract in NRL history to take him?

Coryn, like you, I don't believe we've seen anywhere near his best consistently yet, but if so, this could be a sliding doors moment also for the Eels?

DB cops a lot of negativity & over analyses from Eels fans, and it's about to get worse by the Knights fans.

13 million is great, but was this really the best decision for Dylan Brown the human?

            • 100 no use worrying about it now he's no longer our issue.I just don't like rhetoric around here about him.Much like Talagi they wish the worst when in all essence I ask why are these guys leaving.

Sidenote I was having a beer with Jahrome Hughes dad last night he's leaving alot of money on the table again and is staying in Melbourne even though Perth want him and want him badly he'll finish his career with the Storm.

              • Likewise.

And that's the goal for the Eels, right? We have to create that environment, trust & success where players will stay for less because they are happy & believe that's the best place for their footy.

Hughes obviously has a good support network around him? Any other insights from that chat?

                • Munster also stayed for less. I seem to remember saying that a strong indicator of good culture is a place where players are willing to stay for less (financially speaking).

                  • Or... they have very good TPAs , as they would in a one horse town. No denying they have a good set up , but is it good enough for players to leave a million dollars on the table for their very last contracts ?  Nah ... doubt it.  Even Cam Smith and co needed to be topped up off the books for them to stay there.

                • Exactly right NoS environment and giving players after football opportunities and TPAs if they aren't one in the same.

No not really just that he said he's put roots down there and his mother lives on the GC his oldman lives here in Wgtn and Perth was a bit far. He's just content with his life and football.Potentially he's leaving at least 3-400 k a season on the table by staying over a 4 or 5 yr period well you can do the maths.

              • How does he know he's leaving money on the table ?  He's not off contract until 2027.

                • His agents been contacted quietly and Perth want him like really want him to get him out of Melbourne but from what I heard from his oldman he's going no where.

                  • Great convrsation you guys, as Coryn says DB is a pretty tired subject these days, but I think the NOS and Coryn discussion is well worth thinking about for the morons out there that think he is worth fcuk all.

The Hughes example is also very interesting, I like the fact that Mum and Dad have less distance to travel and yes he may be leaving a few hundred thousand on the table but personal choices can always outweigh monetary ones.

Even Wiz who is renowned for his cynicism add's value with awkward questions and Adam, full marks to him as he has consistently kept his views on a balanced cause through the processes.
