We coud be at least be 2 or 3 wins further up if we had some more astute work from the coach. Although many on here rave about Ryles - and personally I like him and the things he is trying to do - he is making as many rookie errors as any of the players.
What does "astute" mean? It means tactically aware, understanding weaknesses, communicating clearly and applying all the correct resources available.
One of the obvious things last night was that Ryles overplayed Moses role - we became so predictable. We need more tactical adaptibiity and creativity.
Farnsworth sat defensively on Moses when ever he went to the blindside he loves. Just about every set Moses got his hands on the ball (nothing wrong with that) but every time the variation was negligible. There had to be room for shorter kicks as well as the perenial long ones. Not once did Moses really take a run. Were there occasions he could have lifted the pace? Could Moses sometimes be used as a dummy with a point of attack coming from somewhere else?
Are we contestng the ball enough? Having your kicker back is one thing, but at no stage did we get into a position to really challenge the receiver. On the odd occasions we did, we did not contest the kick. It seems the players are under instructions to stand next to the receiver and hope he drops the ball. I do not understand this non contested kicks. The same applies with the drop outs and in some cases defensively where they allowed the attacking side to make the mistake. That's fine when it works, but bloody awful if it doesn't. Perhaps, it is in part the fear of being penalized or sin binned? It's an areas that is undermining us.
Another issue is Ryles' selections.
Matterson should have been playing last night and he would have provided a completely different drive from the "pigs". I thought Junior tried hard but he was a bit out of sorts, almost like him needing to be prodded to get moving (herding cattle). Nothing wrong with Hopgood and Williams games, they are the workers in the pack and the people on here do not understand that or more the point appreciate it.
Russell is honest as the day is long, just a second grader filling in and he stops progress by not creating anything. Does him being solid actually weaken our game?
This game was there for either team to win on the night. Unfortunately, it was a flick of the coin and we lost.
One final thing: people need to get over the constant BA bashing. The guy has gone. But it seems that anything the side does badly is laid on his shoulders. The other things we need to understand are that its fine to have plenty of money to spend, but unless the people we want want to come to Parramatta and play for us, then they won't come! Build it and they will come, selections and poor communication with players is not part of building anything. There are players in Reserve Grade that are going well that are not geting a look in, there are players in first grade that seem to being favoured, I don't no why?

I think when we get to our age Taddy that we find it very difficult to accept the changes we do not understand. Best example is our kids telling us how to bring up kids because we obviously didn't have a clue. My favorite saying as many know is that "they don't understand that they don't understand".
I see Sydney as an old grey lady but I love her dearly. I don't see her the way your wife does, she is just representing the quietness and enjoyment of her current existence, a very natural phenomen.
Brisbane was a peice of piss but I did that in 1980, that's right I have been up here 45 years and still a born bred Parramatta diehard.
I see your search for philosophy and I too love philosophy, but if you are real about it you have to realise that change and evolution are the keys to our humanity and no matter how hard you try you will not force change by preaching the words that ispire you personally. My experience people have to learn for themselves, you can only lead them to water, so to speak.
When you look at the world and what human beings do to each other, than you realise we are a very ordinary animal species and the spiritist involvement and evolution is the only hope we have for attainment or is that atonement? maybe both!
The spiritist philosophy is that don't try and preach or convert people, just lay your cards on the table and let each individual work it out for themselves. Kardec!
Thanks for your take on philosophy, spiritualism, evolution etc A discussion that is so necessary these days when you think about who dominates the way we think about values and beliefs. Think about the multi billionaire sitting on the front seats at Trump's inauguration. Nearly all of them control media outlets and have a big stake in shaping our consciousness. How much diversity of philosophical thoughts about freedoms in discussing issues around diversity of political thought in China ,, Russia,North Korea,Iran etc. How many people have been jailed, tortured,or murdered in those countries for daring to think differently from the ruling elite in those countries. Have we evolved? Unfortunately we have lived under a patriarchy for thousands of years and are still today.
The 1970s was a significant period when the peace, love movement challenged the ruling parties around war, racism.human and women's rights etc through mass protests. Was that a mass consciousness shift around challenging the ruling vested interests.? For thousands of years people fought rich mens wars. We are still in that mindset ( Russia is a good example) I could go on an on about this but will probably get a different story line without consideration to the philosophy, ethical, spiritual side of valuing lives lost in the mindset defending the consciousness they grew up with.. We are going through a very interesting period now with massive conflicts of interests. AI is a big deal.Stephen Hawkins and many others are very concerned about Powerful very wealthy people investing big in AI. A very easy way to enslave the world. Will Philosophy, spiritualism, freedom of thought be manipulated to in how we think?
I don't think we have evolved.Carl Jung and lots working in psychology don't think so either. Humans know it is bad, to drink, take harmful drugs, smoke, gamble, eat unhealthy food, rape, steal, kill, etc but still do it. We haven't evolved despite how much knowledge we have about maintaining peacfuand heathy lives.
I did mention in an earlier post. Philosophy, ethics, self awareness etc should be a huge part of our education. I think we have to many diversions around mindless entertainment and other diversions taking our eyes off the main game in promoting human values . Whos interests are these diversions favouring?
Where does Philosophy, and General Arts degrees rate in a University degree these days. Tells you a lot about where our quality of life ambitions are.?
How does free will function correctly when you have been advertised to as a child, in this insidious, ,intergrated with the sport you love, manner?
Careful before you answer because we haven't been doing this for very long.
Horse racing exists SOLEY due to and for gambling.
This is not the case at all with rugby league, further we encourage our children to engage with RL

Excellent point Randy. Out of Carl Jungs text book of consciousness shaping. We should always think twice before we listen to that phrase from our master's... Nothing against you Poppa I love your inputs on this site
The world would be a happier place if we paid more attention to an ethically base philosophy of life and listened to the god hidden in our corrupted soul
Carl Jung would be the first to tell that the world would be happier place if it could be.
He teaches more about understanding why than making it so!
But then you wouldn't have consciousness evolution Tad. The meaning of life is evolution of ourselves and unfortunately and as much we would prefer to go straight to go and collect the $200, we have to learn and earn it first.
You may be both interested that Einstein has come out with some writings indicating an after life and Stephen Hawking who was always a naysayer is supposedly written a coded text implying he was a believer as well, just that we are not ready for it.
Go back to Kardec there is more support now about his teachings with regard to transformation of the developing soul.
The "James Webb" development is fascinating to me, the infinity nature of the universe and the collection of things needed to go right to create sentient being existences on other planets is mind boggling, actually makes you think of a higher power, although nothing like the way we depict God.
Stephen Hawking who was always a naysayer is supposedly written a coded text implying he was a believer.
Link or you are full of shit....I can't wait to see this.
Carl Jung and consciousness is dear to me too Tad. Nothing to do with advertising to a child in the context discussed. You cannot legally bet until 18 and our children are saturated with porn, religious institutes , Media advertising well before gambling comes to the fore! You of course realise that Carl Jung is effectively an institution when talk Re incarnation and the reason for consciousness and why.....we live again.
I think you two guys should focus on it a bit more logically with people that live in the real world. No offence taken Tad but to say Randolph does anything excellent is pulling a bow when he openly talks about his drug taking......maybe I can accept do as I say rather than what i do but Randolph is a person you would not want to go over the top with.....if you undertanding the meaning of that.
Poppa It's a pity you and Randy don't get on. You are both intelligent people and have a lot of depth. I think you guys would get along well with deep conversations. Pity it hasn't,t worked for you guys.Randy did mention that he smoked marijuana as a relaxant probably much like what alcohol can do in moderation. The last joint I smoked was with mates on Sunday nights when I was 20. We laughed our heads off and had great times on those occasions. I think alcohol let's out aggressive impulses with a lot of people.
I also gave up alcohol a couple of years ago.I want to live longer with better health. Those issues become real at our age
